You are right to ask questions. I did my homework and found out that the paid survey business doesn't live up to the hype. I learned there isn't a high income potential on Danny's-Scam-Review.com. He quotes average earnings per week as $142. Also, you have to be within a good demographic (ages 18 - 54, an alpha mom, or young, hip thing, or in a major consumer group - usually female.) to receive survey invitations. Focus groups are legit and pay well. But again you have to meet their demographic criteria, which can be strict.

Then you need to pick a reliable, well-maintained Survey Database Site. Many have: 1.) Outdated information, 2.) Non-working links, 3.) No help tab, 4.) No support network. Google "online business reviews" then click on the link titled "Paid Survey Review/Survey Scams Revealed." Joel Thomas' article should answer any questions you have about this online business.

I also checked out another opportunity that was "recommended" by a no-scam link. Visited Type-At-Home website, a well put together, somewhat over-the-top site. It sounded interesting and profitable. I still went to Ripoff Report: By Consumers, For Consumers and entered the company name into their search engine. Thirty-two rip-off reports appeared. One complainant explained Billy Biggs' money-making angle. The guy earned very little after a month's hard work. The promised "100% Money Back Guarantee" wasn't delivered either. Email requests went unanswered.

For me, it seemed Type-At-Home was just hype. I've gone back to using the Internet as an investigative tool. Found this site and never looked back. Remember: Always do homework.

Update: Forgot to mention your email inbox will be filled with advertising promotions and spam when you get involved with the paid survey business (Read Top 10 Anti-Spam Measures" in Email Spam Blocker and Software link). Junk mail will pile up in your mailbox, too. This is why a free email account (check out Free Email Directory in same forum), as well as a P.O Box, is recommended. One complainant at ripoff report was upset her personal information was all over cyberspace. You fill out data forms for Market Research Companies (MRC). This data creates a demographic profile, which may or may not lead to paid survey invitations.
