Don't know if you are a US citizen or living in another country. Not knowing this information makes it a hard to advise you.

If you are a US citizen, you should call your local Secret Service field office. United States Secret Service has a "Contact Us" section on their home-page. Open "field office" to find the nearest one, or look in your telephone directory under "Government Information." Otherwise, go directly to Interpol Connection in 419legal's Reporting Fraud section if you are from overseas. You can locate their "Police-Justice" links by clicking on the "Contact" tab, located at the top of the home-page screen.

Normally I wouldn't advise an American to contact their local police department (read Local Police Department in Reporting Fraud forum). But since these scammers know where you live, you might want to talk with law enforcement to cover your bases.

I'm guessing you got involved with these people through an online job offer. Reaching out for help, as you are doing now, is the right thing.

Update 8/11/07:

These people may belong to a criminal organization. They may be using you to launder money - typically, drug traffikers. If this is the case, go to Federal Bureau of Investigation - Home Page. Open the "Contact Us" link to find your local FBI office.

How many checks did they send you - a few, a box, more? Did you deposit them and withdraw funds? You could be subject to a check fraud charge when the checks don't clear.

If, on the other hand, you have done nothing but store the checks, then you are sitting on evidence against them and cutting into their profit. These people would be very serious about getting their assets back. Print out their emails, and give them to a law enforcement agency. Don't leave out any business details, even if they make you look bad.
