Intro-Is UK Lottery real or scam?

Hi,

My name is Sharon, I'm 59 and I have received an email saying that I won 850,000.00 from the UK Lottery. They have been calling and sending emails for over a week. Today, they said since I could not come to London to pick up my check, I would need to send them $850 to transfer funds and have it validated by the High Court. I could not find the name of the bank on the UK list. Is this real or scam? I would appreciate anyone letting me know something quickly.
