I think it would be great if all of the private sector scam fighting sites could work together to spread the word about scams. We need a Scam Awareness Week where we can get this information out to the general public.
The biggest mis-understanding out there is about our banking system. The Consumer Federation of America did a survey and 59% of people believe that the bank verifies a check before they deposit the money into your account. If people knew that this was false, and that the terms "the check is clear" and "it will be verified" mean nothing as far as anyone checking to see that the document is legitimate then there would be fewer scam victims.

Agreed. There are plenty of sites out there I have seen, all with plenty of great material . Its just a question of getting this material to people who are going to need it in the future...
