Anti Scam Scams

In the anti-scam scam sends its target potential victims an e-mail purporting to be from an Fraud Department of the government. These are often quite convincing. They claim that they have reason to believe that the target has been the victim of fraud, then ask the following questions.

Are you or have you been:
• involved in a business transaction with someone who claims you will make millions of dollars
• told by a lottery company that you have won millions of dollars
• been told you have overdue contract funds

If so, they say, there is a good chance one is currently a victim of internet fraud or an online scam run by criminals or con artists. Then one is asked for all the personal information needed for the victims to be thoroughly cleaned out.

Clearly scammers are getting more creative as people become aware of internet scams. As always, internet users must on guard and never answer any unsolicited request for personal information.
