Home Inspectors Scams

Beware scam artists posing as phony “home inspectors”. These con men will show up out of the blue and try to convince you your roof is damages. What they really are are thieves. One may distract you while the other relieves you of your valuables. If they’re bold they may use a quick spray with a concealed water bottle to produce instant “water damage.” The hustler then offers to fix your roof, nails on a few shingles, cashes your check and is gone before you realize it’s a scam.

Never do business with a stranger who knocks on your door, and certainly don’t let strangers into your home no matter who they might claim to be. Reputable home inspectors simply don’t solicit business in this way. You can, and should, check out any potential home inspectors through their professional organizations.
