Beware of the New Scam that promises you help from the government!
Imagine getting an email one fine morning announcing that you are eligible for a special grant from your government! Sure would be music to the ears of students, businessmen or even to ordinary citizens.
If you are a student such a grant can claim help with continuing your college education. If you are a struggling entrepreneur, the grant can come in the shape of a special relief to the particular industry you might be engaged in. If you are a single parent, they can come in the guise of an empathetic consideration from a public department. Or if you are just a regular, unassuming citizen, they might be disguised as an official recognition of your being an asset to the community!
Alternatively, these emails may offer you information regarding special government grants to which you might be “uniquely” entitled to. Either ways, you’d receive such solicitations even though you may not recollect having applied for grants even in the distant past.
When facing rough weather in your life, such offers may be welcome news and act as extremely tempting bait. But be warned, this is the new route being employed by scamsters for phishing and relieving people of their money. They claim that in order to avail of these grants one would require to divulge such personal information as social security number, bank account number and such like.
There is no end to trouble if you fall prey to this fraud. The information can be misused and fetch you misery in countless ways. In the end, you may stand bereft of your money, identity – or maybe both!
