TTCU warns of a Phishing Scam!

Tulsa Teachers Credit Union (TTCU), on Wednesday, issued a phishing scam warning to all its customers. It alerted account holders to be wary of emails, phone calls and SMS messages that take them off guard by claiming their TTCU accounts may have been compromised. The message then urged the recipients to call a North Carolina number, or click on a link in it, and feed in their account access codes to verify that their accounts were intact.
The credit company believes the scam sent out the messages arbitrarily to all US Cellular, AT&T, TMobile, and Sprint customers, including those who did not have an account with it. It attributed the scam to online fraudsters trying to get hold of account accessing information of its customers and steal funds from them. It is worried because the scam will be a success even if a handful of its 77,000 customers fall for it.
TTCU has asked customers not to pay any heed to the messages. While adding that the messages were not sent by the Union, it stressed that all the accounts with the Union were secure.
The scam has been reported to Tulsa Better Business Bureau who have launched an investigation promptly. TTCU, for the moment, scored a victory by getting the phone lines of the scammers shut down. Calls to the number are now answered with a message to the effect that the number was set up by crooks perpetrating a scam.
The company asks its customers to immediately notify their credit card company and all the three credit reporting agencies if they suspect that security of their accounts has been compromised.
