Phishing Scam seeks out Polish National Credit Union customers

The Polish National Credit Union (PNCU) is warning its customers of a phishing scam presently doing the rounds in Massachusetts. The scam began early on Monday morning, it informs. Posing as coming from the bank, it blanketed area residents with text messages, emails and phone calls irrespective of whether they were account holders at the Union or not.
All of them featured the same message: your account at the PNCU was temporary disabled owing to system failure in the billing section. To reactivate it, you are asked to submit your credit card number and PIN at a place mentioned in the messages.
People receiving text messages and telephone calls were asked to call up a certain number to reactivate their accounts in this manner. Those receiving emails were asked to submit the same at a fake website that impersonated the official website of the credit union.
Some residents became suspicious of the calls due to the fact that they received them well-outside banking hours. This is a tell-tale characteristic of such scams.
The phone calls were presumably being made from a number carrying the Delaware area code.
