Fake Degrees from St.Regis University still in use

A recent BBC investigation uncovered that fake degrees acquired online from St. Regis University, a bogus institution, may still be in use. The BBC report tracked down individuals in Britain who had paid around £700 for a PhD in Social Science and for another in Pharmacology.
Those who acquired them thought then, their degrees were genuine. This was surprising given the university offered them a graduation-day of their choice and also, it did not entail them to undertake any coursework whatsoever for attaining the degrees.
The University was shut down in 2005 by the US government when investigators established it was merely a front for pushing fake degrees online. Made out to be based in Liberia, authorities exposed it as a scam run by two fraudsters out of Washington State. The duo were later tried and convicted to serve prison sentences in the US. They were estimated to have made £4 million with the enterprise.
The now defunct university is said to have helped thousands of seekers worldwide in finding jobs or to otherwise move up in their careers using the dubious qualifications obtained from it.
Reports from US two years ago alleged that holders of their fake degrees may have gained employment in federal, state, and local government bodies using them. The BBC investigation suggests that their degrees and diplomas may still be in use. It estimates 150 people in Britain alone, to be in possession of the fake degrees.
