Charges to Adele Services in monthly card statements part of a large scam

BBB is warning all credit card owners to check whether a tiny debit to the account of Adele Services has crept up in their monthly credit card statements. If so, they may have been bitten by a scam, it advises, which has the potential to cause immense damage.

It issued an online press release against the scam after several consumers complained of noticing small unauthorized charges turning up in their card statements.

The charges - 25 cents - may appear insignificant. BBB, however, fears they maybe part of a larger con.

BBB suspects scammers maybe taking 25 cents from millions of credit card accounts to steal a large amount. Else, it feels the small charges may have been placed by the fraudsters, immediately after they cracked the security codes of the cards, to check whether the cards were still active. If the small charge fell through, they will know the cards were open to be slammed with larger charges.

The charges are reported to appear in statements as “ADELE SERVICES 800-764-8104 NY”.

Those who notice such charges are advised to report them to their credit card companies and take immediate steps to have them removed. BBB also urged such consumers to file a complaint at its website.
