Better Business Bureau is warning all consumers to go easy with the Acai Berry, a new herb that is presently being recklessly promoted online. The bureau says the herb is being attributed with miracle properties that are yet to be backed up by medical research.
Unassuming buyers, it fears, can fall prey to unscrupulous marketers out to cash in on the new found popularity of the herb. It has especially asked the general populace to stay away from three companies viz. SFL Nutrition, GlobalNet Pharmacies, and Aton Solutions, who are pushing the herb online.
Consumers dealing with the above companies, it warned, may be inviting big trouble.
The bureau is taking the step after complaints started pouring in against the three companies. The complaints came from consumers who said the companies cheated them into buying the supplements.
They said they subscribed to a promotional ‘free trial’ offered by the companies. To avail of the offer, buyers said they were made to submit their credit card numbers online. They were surprised, later, when orders of the supplement continued to turn up even after expiry of the two-week trial period.
Calls to the companies to get the supplies discontinued were met with silence. Buyers were further dismayed when they checked their monthly credit card statements and found that the companies were billing them $80 for the unwanted supplies.
The three companies are said to be sister-concerns. The bureau reported receiving over two thousands complaints against each one of them. It has given them an ‘F’ rating to discourage consumers from buying from them.
Meanwhile, Florida’s Attorney General too has announced the launch of an investigation against the iniquitous firms.

Am experiencing exact same issue.
Stupidly, I did order a free trial of Acai Berry (thru SFL Nutrition) and also Bromalite which unbeknownst to me included “membership” that I had to cancel in order not to be charged.
Can’t get through on the phone number provided to cancel (just clicks and hangs up) and the online Chat site they say to cancel through also doesn’t work.
I canceled my credit card today and will watch carefully for any charges.
What a hassle and this needs to stop.

These scam companies really are annoying they do a lot of damage to the herbal industry in general and this is crying shame as genuine companies will suffer for their incompitence.
