The worst victims are Thousands of Glenview residents over fortnight . How the phone scammers executed their task seems interesting and lesson for others.
Here the unscrupulous caller ,representing himself as Glenview State Bank agent or representative,thus stating that ATM account and access numbers are required for verification.
Nearly thousand of Glenview residents received the phone calls with the message that their Glenview State Bank ATM cards had been deactivated. Here the scammers were smar enough to fol the people in the name of reactivation of cards, thus they were asked to enter the card number, expiration date and personal identification number in order to reactive the card.
On the other hand no sooner the bank learn something about this phishing scam, phone calls have flooded with angry customers and bank officials are finding tough to convince the people regarding this concern.
While Senior Vice President Pat Grimes believes It’s hard to explain that even though our name was used, none of this was initiated by us nor was there a bank breach of data. On security side bank is trying to contact the people those who have received this type of information and trying to convince them that calls were not furnished from Glenview State Bank.
Glenview police and the FBI are investigating the matter, but the crime falls under the Federal Trade Commission’s purview.
