Savy Internet users train themselves to recognize scam emails at a glance. That’s because most scam message have one or more of the following characteristics in common :

-The email does not address you personally by name: your name doesn’t appear anywhere in the body of the message.

-You don’t know the person who sent you the message;the message was totally unsolicited.

-You are promised large sums of money for little or no effort on your part .

-You are asked to provide money for little or no effort on your part.

-You are asked to provide money upfront for various fees, ot to pay the cost of expediting the process .

-You are asked to provide your bank account number, credit card number or other personal information .

-The request is labeled “urgent” or the sender says that you must act quickly to take advantage of the offer.

-The message is rife with spelling and grammatical errors. ( scammers frequently operate from foreign countries and do not use English as their first language)

-The sender requests confidentiality.

-The sender offers to send you evidence of legitimacy. Often in the form of copies of bank statements, government certificates or similar documents. ( if you actually receive these documents they’ll be fake).
