How to Recognize a Scam Email ?
Savy Internet users train themselves to recognize scam emails at a glance.That’s because most scam message have one or more of the following characteristics in common :
-The email does not address you personally by name: your name doesn’t appear anywhere in the body of the message.
-You don’t know the person who sent you the message;the message was totally unsolicited.
-You are promised large sums of money for little or no effort on your part .
-You are asked to provide money for little or no effort on your part.
-You are asked to provide money upfront for various fees, ot to pay the cost of expediting the process .
-You are asked to provide your bank account number,credit card number or other personal information .
-The request is labeled “urgent” or the sender says that you must act quickly to take advantage of the offer.
-The message is rife with spelling and grammatical errors. ( scammers frequently operate from foreign countries and do not use English as their first language)
-The sender requests confidentiality.
-The sender offers to send you evidence of legitimacy. Often in the form of copies of bank statements,government certificates or similar documents. ( if you actually receive these documents they’ll be fake).
If any or all these attributes apply to a given email message, you can be pretty sure its a scam - and should be deleted.
