This new scam is termed to be international check cashing scam according to latest reports .
In first and latest example ,Huntsville residents are the latest victims of this Check Cashing Scam.
The scammers are sponsoring this racket from email or letters , informing residents that they have won the “Australian Sweepstakes.” Moreover this scam letter or email state that , they are eligible for big lump sum payment in dollars . Scam artists are smart enough to guarantee the prize after payment of processing fees, Legal fees and insurance premium.
. The email notice is attached with the check ,which is termed as advance payment towards winning prize.
Sometimes these email look officials and say This is your first winnings payment, contact us for the rest.’ So after they contact them, they’ll tell you to send part of that money back for processing fees or something, and then after you send that money, the check they gave you bounces and you’re out whatever money you sent.”
But be an smart and aware citizen , because if you fall victim to such fraud letters you could end up losing amount, they send to cover the fees and premiums thus defrauding you expertly.
While Law enforcement agencies across the country have been warning of sweepstakes scams in recent months.
