Tampa ‘car cloning’ scammers in Grip of FBI

Beware of vehicles which are cloned and then presented , especially the cars.
The FBI on Tuesday netted a ring of scammers , who believe to have sponsored $25 million Tampa-based “car-cloning” con job .
In a significant break through ,cracking one of the worst auto scam , FBI have rounded 50 crime artists from Tampa, Miami, Chicago and Mexico ,who have been accused of defrauding drivers, dealers and insurance across the country.
Scammers usually used to stole the vehicles from car lots or sometimes even bought from legal owners. Then they would make a fraud claim that their vehicles have been stolen and apply for fraudulent insurance claims.
After settling claims, scam artists used to sold the modified or cloned vehicles at high price with good profit gains ,further defrauding the insurance company with payouts.
According to FBI officials Some car dealers are under scanner,who bought the cloned cars for less than they cost.
Mean while FBI confirmed Suspected Tampa mastermind Pablo “Tito” Barrio, 54, could get up to 184 years in prison for multiple counts of fraud and theft.
The effects of the scam will continue to reflect as authorities take temporary possession of as security thus by legal authority ,from scammed drivers who unknowingly bought the stolen goods.
Directly or indirectly insurance companies are the latest and worst victims of such scams, because they will have to payout ‘n’ number of times for the same stolen said FBI Special Agent Bijan Hunter.
