Recovery Room Scams-Adding Insult to Injury!!
Recovery Room scams are those scams which are executed after an individual has recently been a victim of a telemarketing scam. Majority of recovery room scam victims are victims who have been through a telemarketing scam. Adding insult to injury scammers working the recovery room scams contact the same exact person, which they had duped recently through a telemarketing scam. Representing themselves as officials of a law enforcement agency, these scammers provide help in getting back the money lost in the initial telemarketing scam.
People or victims of telemarketing scams desperate to get the lost money, prove to be easy pickings for such recovery room scammers.
The reporting percentage of telemarketing scam victims is amongst the lowest of all scam victims, just because of the fact that people feel embarrassed to report that they have been fooled. One can easily determine the even lesser percentage of recovery room scam victims reporting the matter personally to any legitimate law enforcement agency, again due to the same hesitation. This in turn works in favor of recovery room scammers. Genuine and legitimate law enforcement agencies like the FBI, IRS, and the justice department are some of the most popular government agencies which recovery room scammers like to (mis)represent.
Recovery room scammers ask for a fee or charge from their earlier victims to help them recover the lost money. Once the money is paid the victim is kept waiting forever while these scammers are busy making someone else their possible target.
The important thing to be kept in mind is to do every possible research before parting with one’s hard earned money and secondly, NOT to be carried away with fast money-making schemes. The present times of recession is a passing economic cycle and even though one cannot guarantee when the economy will take an upward turn, the best possible practice is to NOT try too hard to wriggle out and find ways to make quick money-(this is just a personal opinion and suggestion and is not applicable or a guaranteed solution to anyone facing a financial crunch or otherwise).
