Beware of furnace fraud!

With the onset of warmer days and the fall season, most of us find it the perfect time to get our heating systems and furnace serviced. This also means that bogus furnace servicing companies get a change to dupe people into believing that the heating system either needs expensive servicing or in worst cases even replacement. In most of the cases, though, these bogus furnace companies or contractors use ways and means to exploit the element of fear, when actually, no repair is needed.
Con artists from such furnace repairing companies or contractors dealing with heating systems, try everything so that we agree to their fraud tactics.
The best way to deal with such fraudsters is to remain calm and if the situation of the heating system is not too bad, one can always have a second opinion. Contacting a reputable firm or one’s utility company is an option worth trying.
If the heating system is not very old, it may possibly be under a warranty and contacting the dealer is the best option to get things sorted out.
Once all the options have exhausted consulting friends, colleagues and relatives to suggest names of reputed firms or dealers and then getting at least 2-3 estimates for the work will assist you in choosing the best possible option.
Estimates should be demanded in writing with full details regarding the services offered, authorized service outlets, warranty, and materials used.
These are some of the common practices that one can follow to minimize the chances of being a victim of a furnace fraud.
