Lottery Scam for the Hearing Impaired!!

A case of old wine in the same old bottle but with a new wrapper-lottery scams have re-surfaced. People with a hearing handicap and those hard of hearing are the main targets of such a lottery scam for the deaf. These people are informed through the internet that they have won a ‘lottery for the deaf’. Testimonials include a fake representation with the National Association of the Deaf.
The same old procedure is being followed, informing the victims that they have won a lottery and then asking them to send in some money through a wired source as a administration fee or processing charge. Once the ‘fee’ or ‘charges’ are sent by unsuspecting individuals it is the last time they will every know more about the lottery scam.
Scammers are now using more than one way to steal money. Asking for donations, requests to fill in survey forms etc are some of the alternative ways. Fraudsters are also targeting, businesses which use specialized technology to assist people with hearing impairment for normal office work.
The simplest way to avoid such scams is to know and accept the fact that there are no organizations or institutions which hold a lottery for the deaf. If at all any such email is received regard it as a spam email and delete it.
