Alert sounded for Chase Bank Customers-Phishing Attack!
Chase Bank customers and account holders have been warned about a phishing e-mail attack. Scammers are sending in spam email to the account holders at Chase Bank, Missouri.
Customers and account holders at the bank as well as the bank officials were caught unawares when the phishing news first surfaced. Phishing email appearing to be legitimate inform the account holder about a new ‘update’ that the bank is undertaking. A link follows the email which routes the unsuspecting internet user to a different site where they are asked to submit account details in the name of the ‘update’.
The general public is being informed that no such ‘update’ is taking place with the Chase bank. Chase bank has issued alerts, informing that no such ‘update’ is actually taking place. Customers and account holders of Chase Bank are requested not to pay attention to any spam email or to submit their personal account information via the internet. In case any customer or account holder of Chase Bank does receive an email asking their personal account information or any personal details, they should contact the bank immediately. No links provided in the spam email should be accessed or clicked as the phishing scam may also turn out to be a tip of the iceberg.
Chase Bank officials have specifically stated that the bank does not ask for any account information (especially through the internet) for any purpose for the simple fact that the bank already holds all such information.
A general rule to safeguard against e-mail scams, online scams and phishing attacks is to ignore them and to contact the source which these emails claim to represent.
