Spot-Deliver Scams-Prevention Tips!
Spot delivery scams fall into the auto loans or car finance scams category. A spot-delivery scam is a illegal and deceptive lending practice wherein a car or auto dealer delivers possession of a vehicle, even before the financial transactions and formalities are dealt with. The primary reason for such an act is to divert the attention of the buyer from important financial terms and conditions. This will then be used by the auto or car dealer to their advantage.
Dealers assure their customers that the financing for the vehicle to be purchased has been approved or is due for approval in a short period of time. What happens next is that the dealer will contact the car buyer that the finance did not get through and that the buyer can either choose to return the vehicle or settle for a second try at financing the vehicle. In most of the cases the buyers find it difficult to choose the first option and ultimately agree to the ‘customized’ and vague terms and conditions of the second finance offer. Following a few simple steps can ensure safety against the spot-deliver scam:
1.Under no circumstances should a spot-deliver be accepted no matter how genuine or reputed the dealer seems to be.
2.Waiting till the financing is duly approved and ensuring that all the necessary formalities have been dealt with.
3.Reading and understanding all the terms and conditions mentioned in the contract is a necessary prerequisite to any legal agreement being undertaken.
4.Aggressive marketing tactics and fancy deals used by the dealer should not be compromised with any formalities relating to finance.
