Types of Work-at-Home Scams
People wanting to stay at home, unemployed individuals, individuals trying to make quick money are just some of the few types of people who would qualify for a work-at-home scam.
The internet has provided scammers and fraudsters with a ‘free advertising tool’ which is now being used for carrying out illegal activities. Work-at-home scams can come in different shapes and sizes, some of the more common types of work-at-home scams are mentioned as under:
1.Online Business: Provides a ‘guide’ which can make you rich in a matter or days. One will be asked to purchase a kit or guide on such work-at-home scheme.
2.Processing Claims: Processing claims for insurance companies and doing paperwork for insurance providers by ordering equipment and software is one of the work-at-home scams which promises exceptional returns.
3.Stuffing Envelopes: Guarantees a too good to be true payment on stuffing or each envelope. One has to order kits and instruction manuals for this work-at-home scam.
4.MLM: Multilevel marketing scams are a sub category of work-at-home scams which requires an individual to recruit new people in order to make a chain of marketing personnel.
5.Assembling Jobs: This type involves purchasing expensive kits and manuals before starting to assemble products for companies. There is no guarantee that the company will accept the goods that one has assembled at home.
Preventing work-at-home scams can be as simple (or difficult) as accepting the fact that there are no short cuts to make quick money or to get rich in a short period of time.
