Default employment scam?

i live in a small town with not many job opportunities. a new company is coming in and has been conducting interviews for full time office workers. i went to the interview and it seemed to go well. a couple hours later, they called me back all of a sudden and said that they could offer me a copartner position if i made an investment of $10K in the company. they are prepared to loan me the money up-front and i'd have to pay them back. they said that with my hard work it could be a success but it could fail too, there were no guarantees. something about this reeks of scam to me? what do you think?

Default job scam

I remember seeing this a few weeks ago, and it followed the same format and I have seen the same scam posted on other sites. It seems that whoever runs this scam moves from one small town to another and then lays low for a week or two before they start it up again.

Cool

Pat noone till now gave us a company name to search about.
It is better everyone to state names to be investigated.
It may be scam, but also may be a test to canditates if they believe to their abilities that claim have at interviews .........
It is a 50%-50% case for me till I will have something specific to search about ...........

ya think? Of course you got all their business information and checked with the bbb, local chaimber, and alerted the local authorities. Right? You certainly didn't just let them go on robbing in your small community!

Hey Merc,

I have applied for a lot of jobs and never once went into a job interview where I applied as an employee and had them ask me to invest in the company.

I have responded to companies that were opportunities and spelled out up front that a cash investment would be needed. There are also investor ads and franchise ads that imply investment money up front to start.

But $10k to prove you have the skills? Most companies check your resume and background to see if you were actually working in a job that had the necessary skills. I would expect that this was a hit and run. The FBI link might be something useful in a case like this.
om

Dear oldman
Welcome to this forum.
The point is to tell the things with their names. Otherwise all seem as key-study.
