Default Fraud

About 5 years ago, these scams started popping up. Supposed dropship companies promising absurd low prices,...all you had to do was send cash through Western Union. Never do this under any circumstances. Whether it sounds too good to be true, or some of them are pretty smart and have decent prices, to look legit. Or they actually send you products...just not authentic. Than as they've accumulated enough cash...they drop off the face of the earth.

I was suckered in to this company...I forgot their name...something like "Internet surplus". Just stay away from western union only companies. Use a CREDIT CARD...never ATM with credit card logo. Or maybe Paypal. It's the only way to protect yourself.

Default Western Union or Money Transfer

DON'T DO IT! Never send a money transfer OR western union. There is NO way to track it. I know you might think money transfers are safe...they ARE NOT! Some banks are private and will not release information on time for you to do anything.

DON"T DO IT! Use credit card, and never use your ATM with visa or master card logo. They can wipe out your checking funds as well.

Be safe...

Default Tracking numbers

Quote:
OR western union. There is NO way to track it
@CEOJoel, welcome to 429legal, your statement above could be misleading, regarding Western union.
They issue a ten digit number called a 'Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) ' this can be used on the internet to track the money.

Many scammers will ask for this number so they can track the money and check it is actually in transit.

However you are right in saying that it could be misused . The scammers like western union and money gram, as they do NOT have to set up an account and once the money has been picked up they can disappear .
Most genuine business's use standard bank transfers but the scammers do not like this as they have to provide proof of id to open a bank account and so they can be traced.

Default How do they make fake high-tech items?

I can understand how people can make fake watches or fake designer bags. But cell phones? This is so high-tech that I can not imagine somebody making those in garage somewhere.
My question is if dhtgate basically helps to sell fake goods where can you get authentic Chinese knock off of major manufacturers? For example Samsung sells their phones under Anycall brand in China. I would not mind buy this phone knowing that it's authentic just designed to be sold in China and made by Samsung.

Default My paypal has been hacked with a payment to dhgate.com

Hi guys, came across this site after googling 'dhgate' - I recently had my Paypal hacked and $225 taken out to purchase stuff from dhgate.com, any idea how this happened? I am really really careful with all my personal details, I shred everything before it goes in the bin, no one knows my passwords etc.
A while back I kept getting random chinese people add me to their MSN and ask me if I wanted to purchase stuff from a website, but I never clicked on the links and once I realised they were just people wanting to sell things I deleted them from my list.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Default Hacked?

@nainonoonoo , welcome to 419legal, I would strongly advise you to do some scans, as it looks as though your security has been breached.
A good free anti -virus is "alvira" and AVG, look for an anti root kit as well, download it and run.
You can always find a free trial from most of the main anti -virus companies and do a scan with those . The time to do this is NOW.

Default DHGate RC Equipment

Ok, so I wasn't so naive to believe that a $500-600 Align T-Rex RC Heli could sell for 91.20 + 75 shipping, and since the pictures on 4 or 5 different sellers pages are the exact same pics and the descriptions match word for word, I was wondering if the whole site is just a scam.

I was willing to risk $150 even to receive a replica T-Rex heli since many US companies offer replicas of the T-Rex for around $300 (after all, this crap all comes from China anyway, motors, batteries, parts, transmitters), but after reading here I am not sure that is wise at all. Anyone have any info on buying RC stuff from DHgate or more specifically, a particular trusted user on DHGate. I am nearly ready to delete my account and forget I ever found that site, but I thought it was a worth a shot to ask here first.

Default DHGate Is not a scam... if you are looking for copies

Most people on this board think they are being scammed because the sellers sends them copies. Well Im sorry to bust your bubble but if you want to make money on ebay you better be selling high quality fakes or you don't stand a chance. There is no way a small seller can buy name brand products at wholesale pricing and make money on sites like ebay. We simply don't have enough buying power. Sites like DHGate and Alibaba server their purpose. They sell fakes. The key is finding good fakes. Like it or not thats how power sellers are making a killing on ebay.

For those of you who will argue with this I challenge you to find one site offering authentic products that you can make a profit off of on ebay.... you wont be able to do it. And if you do give me a site chances are they just offer high quality fakes that fool most people.

The moral of the story is . If you are looking for copies, fakes or whatever you call it DHGate is a great place to find them. Blackmarket china is all about fakes. With the small quantites we order these sellers couldnt make money off authentics even if they wanted to.

ok enough venting..... I'm going back to dhgate to find some good deals

-Ebay Powerseller ... 4+ years selling fake goods from china.... 4 years of happy customers who saved a ton of money!

Default Safety First

I know this looks long winded, but I have had some experiences with chinese wholesale sites i would like to share.

First of all, what you get from these sites is fake. End of story.

So I have used dhgate twice, both times I have paid for a mobile phone. I know these will be fake but im not planning on selling them, they are for personal use so i dont really care. First one was a few months ago, it was 8gb nokia n96 (i think), cost just over £100 GBP. After paying using the escrow service and paypal to be safe, i patiently waited, checking my tracking number each day for around a week until my package arrived. All this time i was also talking to the sales rep for the company on msn...

So my package arrived, and as soon as i seen it, i thought it looked a bit thin, but after dealing with china for years on made-in-china .com i know that if the chinese have one talent, its how to pack things incredibly tight, so i assumed the box was flat packed. Upon opening the package, i had been sent 8 pc cd's, 4 x office 2007, and 4 x windows xp oem...
Even though some of you will be thinking these are worth more than what i paid, thats not the point. First of all they're fake so i dont want to risk selling them on ebay, mainly because i am already running a legit business on there, and secondly, they are oem, so if they dont come with some sort of hard drive, ebay will remove them as a violation.

After this, i went straight to my pc, to talk to the rep, who was surprisingly still online, i told her the situation, to which she replied "thats not possible", she said this because the cd's dont weigh enough to have made up the 800 grams that was on the packaging, where the phone weighs 800 grams exactly, therefore, i was lying. Reluctantly, I found a set of kitchen scales, which i used to weight the cd's, along with the packaging, and took some pictures to prove their weight.

All the time this was happening, the rep was telling me to wait before opening a dispute in dhgate, to try to come to some solution between us. Little did i know, they had already told dhgate that i had received my package, which means, my 4 day inspection window was closing. Finally I had had enough, they were refusing to send me my money back, so i tried to open a dispute... FAIL, window had closed, dhgate had closed the transaction as successful.

Ok this is bad, BUT, i used paypal! joy! lets open a dispute in there, so i did, to which to i presented my case, along with photo proof. The sellers boss replied to me several times within the resolution centre and offered me a partial refund of 40 USD, i said no. He said to send the cd's back, and he would give a a refund, I thought, ok, thats cool coz its written in paypal so he cant go back on his word. he did. I got no money back, and no more correspondence off him. I decided to escalate the case to paypal to get my money back, which if you have read this much of my post, your probably thinking why didn't i do this in the first place,,, but read on...

To my utter shock and disgust, I got a reply from paypal that they had voted on the SELLERS side! this is because what i bought, was not via ebay, which means they cannot help me! i mean seriously, what is the point in using paypal to be 'safe' if they are only safe when you buy via their own company, ebay. Its a monopoly im sure, which is illegal in some way... So i had no money, no phone, no cd's to resell coz i sent them back, and no leg to stand on...

I am awaiting my second item now which is a sony ericsson X1. I have the tracking number and it should be here in a few days.

Ok if you are patient enough to have read this far, I will tell you about my made-in-china.com experiences now.

Overall, pretty good, talk to the company sales rep as much as you can before you place an order, via msn or yahoo or something. Ask to see tracking numbers from shipments they have sent out to other customers, if they are legit, they will have no problem with this. I know this doesn't guarantee you will get the right item you paid for, but you know they will actually send something out. I have NEVER been scammed from made-in-china, i have bought things as small as clips for hair extensions, upto a 40 foot long container full of golf trolleys. Just make sure you order a sample first before a large order to check for quality, and if you send a large sum of money, use bank transfer, not western union...

Lastly, alibaba.com. I have used this site once, and i lost £2000 GBP. I ordered what was supposed to be 15 mobile phones. Used western union as requested, to which i was slightly suspicious, but they put my mind at rest by saying, dont send the money to them, send it to myself, or to my friend, which i can them show them my receipt and prove i have the money to send. After i receive the goods, i can change the name on the form and they can pick up the money. Even doing it this safe way, as soon as they found out the name i had sent it to, they stopped contacting me, I checked western union online to find the money had been collected already. They basically knew someone in western union or they have a way of making very fast fake ID's, but again, i had no leg to stand on.

I hope this ESSAY has shed some light on these sites and the way some people try to scam you.. if you want to ask me any questions, I would gladly help you.
