I have dealt with DHgate and TradeTang. First, you arent allowed to sell counterfeit items, even if you tell someone they are replicas. If they have say "Gucci" on it and you tell someone that its fake, you still cant sell it. Its against the law. If it said "Guggi" then its ok. So when you ask them if its authentic, they have to tell you it is, you could be a federal agent and they could get in trouble.
There is a way to protect yourself. Do research.Dont go sending hundreds of dollars to someone you dont know and have never dealt with before. Each seller has a rating and has feedback. Look at it! look at ALL of it. Start small, build up a relationship with the seller. you will get further. And if they are willing to instant message you then your off to a great start. I have no affiliation with either company, But I get a little frustrated when I see that people are shocked that theyve been duped when theyve done little to no research and are willing to send off a bunch of money with no safety net. both companies have a button after youve made a purchase, that once youve received your merchandise and ARE SATISFIED.. you then click button that says release funds to seller. Ive had no occasion on dhgate that there was a problem. I bought several items of jewelry that I knew were knock offs,(why else would I get a tiffany necklace that retails for $500 for 20 bucks??) I gave them as gifts and people LOVED them. I ended up becoming friends with the seller and made several other purchases and have always been satisfied with all of it through DHgate. TradeTang I had a few issues, but they were resolved promptly and I always got my money back. My other post is about tradetang, you can click my name and read the other post to see what Ive said about them.. It all boils down to quelling your urge for instant gratification and believing in the unbelievable ^_^ please guys, if you just take a little time, do your homework, contact the seller before you buy.. You will have a much higher success rate with these companies. |

I would just like to add my $.02 to this thread(s)....first, when you see ANY website offering $2000 Gucci handbags for only $100.00 or iPods for only $35.00, that should tell you right there that it's a scam. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THE DISCOUNT IS THAT HEAVY!!! Second, the reason DHGate doesn't shut down the "scammers and thiefs" is simply because they are making a rediculous amount of money with them. For every 1 or 2 out of 10 people who actually go all the way with the arguing and disputing with DHGate and really do get a refund, there's still the other 8 or 9 out of 10 who DO NOT get a refund....do the math....it's simple. Plus, DHGate is "protected" from any real prosecution simply because they can claim they had no idea that one of their "suppliers" was selling counterfeit merchandise....they're "insulated" from all the bullshit because they simply have to claim they didn't know fake items were being sold and can say that they "no longer do business" with that particular website, and I'm pretty sure in their "fine print" somewhere it says they are not responsible for the actual merchandise and that they are "simply a go-between" or some kind of lie like that.....my point is this-if it sounds too good to be true then guess what....IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!! Use common sense and research the company(s) thoroughly before spending ANY money on anything....I'm just glad I had the opportunity to research these drop-shippers before spending any money. USE YOUR HEAD PEOPLE.

DHgate advertises itself as an escrow agent providing safe and secure transactions between American buyers and Chinese sellers. Its CEO gives interviews and sends out press releases about how DHgate stamps out counterfeiters, imitators, and the like. There is a so-called 'dispute' center. Also, all payments from the US to DHgate in China have to be made via PayPal and PayPal advertises guarantees as to use of funds ('unauthorized transactions') and receipt of products that were not those contracted-for. In my situation, I selected some known name brand products (Odelia jewelry), Tahitian pearls, sapphire, and tanzanite. As an investor in gems and settings, I know that most jewelry is made in South-East Asia, eg, stones are shipped to and cut in Thailand, then sent to China for setting in mounts and castings made in Thailand and China. When I received the items, I ran a series of tests on them and each and every item was fake: synthetic materials, glass, paint, varnish. I immediately emailed the evidence to DHgate and opened disputes. The sellers for the most part ignored me; one called me names; another offered a 'very good gift we do good business in future we be friend.' Ultimately, though, DHgate ignored my counteroffers, wouldn't let me return the goods (there are inexpensive ways of shipping to China), didn't read two memos on Chinese law that I prepared, and took money for itself and its sellers, returning me pennies on the dollar. I have written to some Chinese agencies so it's too soon to see if I'll receive aid there. I have also sent DHgate what's called a demand letter stating that since it had breached its agreements to be an escrow agent, to act neutrally, to look at evidence, etc., and since it's own sellers had breach agreements to send contracted-for items, that I would file suit to enjoin future business activities and for damages. I have had not response yet. As for PayPal, it originally just said it could care less, then removed my dispute emails from its resolution center, then upped me to emailing the executive center, and that center has so far done nothing even though the release of funds was an unauthorized transaction and the underlying sales were not as contracted-for. What we can do is join together for a class-action suit if there are enough of us; the best places to file are either in Los Angeles or, best, New York City (federal court, 2nd Cir.; best with regard to commercial matters). In the meantime, I would advise that you not purchase anything at all from DHgate.

i have had many transactions here on dhgate and most of them were successful. although sometimes i had problems and escalated disputes, staff from dispute resolution center were very kind to me and have had managed to help me out. I was happy with the result. Some items are fake and it is always right to ask more questions before paying orders. It should occur to you that items may not be real if the price is so low. anyway, some of items are really of good quality. I like buying on dhgate.

We purchased Ipods from DHgate and did not expect anything flash as long as they worked we would have been happy. They do work but they have the apple brand on them. So in other words they are counterfeit and we can not sell them. We did not expect to make a huge fortune just maybe double our money. They were $50 each. They work and look great but how can we sell them if they have the apple brand on them????
We have requested a refund from DHgate but I am not expecting them to refund. Would appreciate any help with this please? |

I have bought several items via DHgate. I should have learnt my lesson. The sellers they use are just scam artists who sell cheap nasty rubbish, and when you want to do a return, they don't want to know. PLEASE, WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE THIS Co.You will only loose your money. Its a 'rip off.!!!!

I just wanted to add that I thought that DHgate was much more secure than it's competitor Alibaba.com. You do have the option to pay through paypal. They seemed to be structured a little better. Anyways I have written article on it:
I also made a blog post on it too, so please do leave me a message, because to my understanding DHgate is much better...maybe I need to check my facts. Mod Edit "maybe I need to check my facts." I would respectfully advise this to happen, thank you.

@silver93350. How is it that there are many unresolved posts about members bad experience's with DHgate. yet you promote them on your blog?
In most parts of the world it is illegal to purchase "Knock off" goods, as it is defrauding the original owners of their legal income? It is WRONG for anyone to buy copies of any product without the permission of the owner and it is in breach of their copyright! Whether you agree with them or not, they have a right to benefit from the promotion and expenditure they have invested in their product, To actively promote "copies" is not right. I am sure that DHgate does NOT have the permission of all the many "brand" name companies to sell their products and certainly not copies! Any promotion of this unethical practice will be removed from 419legal.

I'm a Biodiesel producer in FL.
Our company is heavily involved in Global Trade. We have been searching high and low for a company that provides "REAL" verification services. We have been sent numerous fake offers from both buyers and brokers to buy our product. We receive 5-8 LOI's/Purchase Orders requests a week, just to get scammed for samples. Recently we were dealing with an African buyer that wasted our time for 2 months just to ask us for a registration fee of 5,000 to import our product in to Benin. We are fed up! We came across a great company called b2bvalidate.com. They do it all. We decided to use them for a basic LOI search that cost us $99. This prevented us from sending out $500 worth of samples. I do NOT work for this company nor do I benefit in any way by writing this! I just want to put it out there, that these people are good, they saved us money. I know that many people on on this site would benefit from their services. |

I've bought and tried to buy a few items from different sellers there. I ordered some XP OEM discs and they are counterfeit with volume licenses, and only work with volume licenses. After I escalated the dispute, even though they have a stated policy about not allowing counterfeits on their site, they are only offering me 30% refund and saying that if I return them I can get a full refund, even though I explained to them it's illegal to ship them.
I also ordered some pocket PC's which the seller got the price wrong on, and offered to ship me less than what I ordered. It took a while but I got cancelled and got my refund. I ordered 5 8GB SD cards that I was going to bundle with the pocket PC's, and I tried to cancel the order, which the guy said 'sorry, they were already shipped'. This was on the 17th, but the actual shipping date was the 20th. I said fine, I have some uses for 8GB cards, and because they were $18 USD each, it seemed like a reasonable price for the cards. I got sent some counterfeit Kingston cards, and none of them worked in 4 different devices. I offered to reuturn them, and got the address of a drop shipping company which has a website, it is called microsourcing. They would only accept express post shipping, which would cost me about $56 CAD, and at this point I was pretty fed up. Once I found out what the company was I would be returning them to, I got their phone number and called them on skype. After arguing with the guy for about 20 minutes trying to get a full refund without returning the garbage cards, I got even more fed up. I confirmed that he was at the location on their website and that the goods shipped from there, and then threatened to call the police on them. I got a full refund instantly. So I have some tips: Be prepared to take a lot of risks trying to get anything worthwhile at real wholesale prices. Never use Western Union, ever. Only use Paypal or credit card, though I wouldn't trust them with your CC information. Paypal won't help you except for ebay purchases, though they do have a way to report the website that sold you counterfeits, though that probably won't get your money back. The best you could hope for is for paypal to remove DHgate's account. DHGate's policy is meant to lull you into a false sense of security. Finally, do what you can to stop these people. You can report them to the FBI, run a whois search on their domain name and try to notify the hosting service of the fraudulent activity, report them to paypal, see what kind of action can be taken through the companies that make the real items you tried to order (ie. microsoft has a way to send them the fakes and possibly get genuine advantage kits for free, and they'll investigate the seller, send cease and desist letters, etc.). Do what I did, find out their address and phone number before stating it's too expensive to return the garbage items. Call them and act like you're negotiating. Confirm that they are where they say they are, and then threaten to call the police. They know what they're doing is illegal. I'm still debating to call the police there anyway. After researching a lot of these so-called 'wholesale' websites, the prices are BS, and price isn't a way to verify authenticity, neither is a picture. Be prepared to do a lot of research and possibly find nothing worthwhile. |
