Dear llx

It's good for your site to explain what your site would like to go between.

Angry Dhgate scam

Hi i not long bought an item from dhgate used paypal to pay and a duplicate payment was made. i contacted dhgate and paypal and my bank. the bank said oh its paypals problem paypal say it dhgates problem.

i have contacted dhgat and said wheres my money the only email i got back was you item has been canceled untill we investigate and that when duplicate payment is recived they will refund the amount.

this has been over a week i have contacted paypal and dhgate and been told by paypal oh your not protected due to not buying from ebay. discusting!

dhgate have not replyed to me about payment and havent even refunded the payment or replyed to invioce i sent them.

it is clear that paypal are not helpfull in this matter or dhgate.

it suprises me that the uk goverment let people buy from the net but dont protect our money.

the whole situation has put me off buying from the internet what ever happened to customer rights there clearly isnt none from paypal or the bank or dhgate.

it is clear now that there dealing with us in a problem and if thats the case they shouldnt sell to us.

any thoughts?

Angry Be very very careful who you deal with on that site.

I am in the process of losing a little over $100 from this site.

This past weekend, I ordered some items and was supposed to receive a discount from the seller. Of course the seller just said 'oops my fault sorry for not giving you the discount. Order from me again and next time I will give it to you, I promise.'

Also, today I found out that the items are a cheap fake. No resale value at all.

Contacted DHGATE customer service to cancel the order and of course there is no reply.

To sum up:
1) I ordered items on Saturday, was supposed to get a discount for ordering multiple copies,
2) Did not get the discount from the seller
3) Found out the items are a cheap fake
4) Contacted customer service to cancel the order on Sunday - no reply yet.

At least it was not thousands of dollars that I lost.
I don't believe for a moment that DHGATE is just a outlet for sellers. From the interaction that I have had so far, I do believe that DHGATE is a company that has HIRED these so called 'sellers' to make it look like the site is legit. In other words, the 'sellers' are just employees of DHGATE.
I'll update this post as needed.

UPDATE 5pm EST, Sept 7.
Still no reply about the cancellation notice that I sent to DHGATE customer service.
But funny, I got an email from them a few hours ago confirming that they DID charge my paypal account and that the order was being shipped. Customer service did not even acknowledge that they did or did not receive my cancellation notice.

Updates coming soon.

I recently ordered some electronics from a selller on dhgate. The seller would not return my emails until I opened a dispute. When I received the product it was not what the seller advertised. It was fake although the description said it was a wholesale item that was returned from the store. I wrote to Dhgate over 4 times to escalate the dispute and to date no one has not responded to me. Dhgate is definitely a buyer beware. Don't go looking for a good deal.

Default dhgate (the actual company) scammed me.. read how

I ordered a watch I had been searching around for one bay but it was going for $400+ dollars. I typed the watch 'Seiko Sportura' into google and one came up on Google from Dhgate.. The cost was $120 + tax. I payed via paypal and I read some of Dhgates buyer protection policies and they say that dhgate holds a buyers money and only releases the money to the seller when a buyer receives their item and is satisfied with it.

BUT!! what happens to you when you experience what I did? The seller provided a tracking #, it never worked always came back as "not correct tracking # try again" or something like that... Here's the scam.. I wrote to the seller about the tracking # and he happily ignored my emails.. There is a time frame where if you choose to dispute a seller you have to wait for that period to end I believe it's 15 days.. So that was 15 days of ignoring me. Finally the days went by as I grew more angry with each passing day.. Now that the time frame expired the seller of course emailed me back he said "dear, your watch was lost in mail, choose another watch from this link" I didn't understand this but out of curiosity I clicked on the link and there was about 25 thumbnails of watches.. none of them of course were a Seiko Sportura watch which is what I was interested in. So, I said to dhgate in the dispute window that I didn't want any other watch offered to me and that the seller said my watch got lost in the mail (yeah right) and he doesn't have another one of the same watches so I asked for a full refund.. Sounds reasonable right? Well..

Now Dhgate ignored me.. they were "reviewing" my request for a refund.. at this point dhgate should have refunded me my money but they didn't.. without any authorization from me Dhgate said "the seller sent you another watch, it is in the mail" and she provided a real tracking # this time. I said to her who by the way the dispute lady is always named 'Annie Li'.. So I said to Annie Li "why did you allow the seller to send me another watch when I don't even know what he is sending me" Anni Li ignored that question. So, I'm thinking okay.. maybe my watch is finally going to arrive.. which if it did I would have been fine with that.. So there's a box outside my door from China I open it up and inside there's a small box that says 'swatch' on it? Inside the box, there is what looks like a little boys black, plastic watch with a thin rubber strap? Now rememeber I had paid $121.00. So I began to reply again in the dispute window when the following happened...

Annie Li ignored me for a long time.. I was growing more and more frustrated with each day she ignored me too.. imagine my experience so far? After explaining the watch I recieved was a fake and also a toy, Anni Li told me to attach a photo of it as proof.. what if I didin't know how to do this or have a digital camera? But I do know how and I have a camera and I did this.. then she said "send a copy of the shipping label" what if I had thrown the box away? Well, I didn't and I scanned a copy of it, converted the scan to a file and had to shrink the image all the way down to 144k (good luck if you dont' know how to do this) or it won't send. Funny too how about 5 attachments didn't go through but the 6th one showed up in the dispute window. So there you go Anni Li, there is the photo of the watch and a photo of the shipping label.. Can I have my money back now? No..

Annie Li now said to me that she has to talk with the seller.. this took a few days.. she got back and sent me some automated reply about 'sending merchandise back to seller is expensive and it's recommended that you get a partial refund' Then to my shock there was an offer "will you accept $35USD partial refund? Please get back to us" So I paid $121.00 was sent a toy swatch that I didn't order or want and now the seller who appears to be in complete control here, wants me to pay him $85.00 for it? So, I picked up the telephone..

I called China.. yeah I did.. I spoke to a Chinese girl, she sounded very young.. she was more or less begging me to take some small amount of money as a partial refund "will you take $55USD" she said. NO!!! I yelled and screamed.. WHAT IS THIS, WHAT IS GOING ON I THOUGHT MY MONEY WAS SAFE WITH DHGATE? Sorry, she said "Anni Li will see how much the seller will settle for partial refund. My next email to Annie Li was really nasty, I went to Paypal and began a dispute there.. today Anni Li responded to it here is what she wrote...

"we have already checked on the status of the order. It appears that you have received the goods, so the reason for this dispute is wrong. We sincerely suggest you should close this paypal dispute and open another dispute, for the reason "not as described".

Meanwhile we found you had escalate the dispute to DHgate, our colleague will do utmost to help you out.

Please feel free let us know if you have any question.

Best wishes for you."

It's a scam. Call your credit card company, or Paypal.

I'm just surprised that PayPal still lets DHGATE keep using the same account to scam people. No conspiracy theories, but if you google DHGATE, many of the results for them say that they are 'the largest paypal customer in Asia.' Maybe that's why paypal takes no action against them.

From Google:
"DHgate is proud to be PayPal's largest client in the Asia-Pacific region , and it is your one-stop solution .... "

The same thing is happening with me. I placed 2 orders (the second one is mentioned above.) I only used DHGate because a friend recommended it to me. He didn't have any problems on his first couple of orders, but now he had to file a dispute over being sent incorrect merchandise.

Anyway, on the first order the seller sent a tracking number that didn't work. I contacted the seller, and after several messages back and forth, he finally said that he would contact EMS ( the shipper ) to resolve what the problem is with the tracking number. That was several days ago, and after sending several email to him I have yet to receive a valid tracking number or even a response.

What a mess. It would seem that being a seller, you would want to stay in touch with your buyers and keep them happy for repeat business. Alas, that does not seem like what this company or its 'sellers' are interested in.
