Default Great American Photo Contest

I signed up for a baby photo contest called the Great American Photo Contest. We have a new baby in our extended family and I have taken some photos of the little guy that are very popular with the rest of our family group. They promise a $2500 prize for the photo that gets the most votes. Well, once you sign up and submit a photo, it becomes clear that you have to provide a great deal of personal information to enter this contest. I became suspicious when there was a long list of "free offers" and that signing up for a free offer was a requirement of entering the contest. The list was the usual higher education, reduce debt, that I associate with something fishy.

I backed out from joining the "contest" and I have since filled out an unsubscribe request twice from the Great American Photo Contest, but I have been getting two a day emails from them, all worded differently, all asking me to copy a link for my family and friends so they can all vote for the baby photo that I initially up linked to them.

They use photocontest@greatamericanphotocontest.com in their messages, with some variations on that, one being a back-slash 'messages'

Anyone else have experience with Great American Photo Contest?

I also just received an email from the Great American Photo Contest. Claiming a 2,500 reward for the picture that got the most votes in a months time. I started to participate, but backed out in the end due to a long survey it wanted you to fill out. It did have you list your name, address, phone number house and cell, and email address. WHich I didn't list the cell. But now I will probably have extra telemarketing calls and spam emails coming. Does anyone know who is behind these emails and the motive.

For me, it wasn't the cell phone number request that got me suspicious, it was the fact that they required me to tell them who my cell phone CARRIER was as well. I couldn't think of a valid reason they would need to know who my cell phone provider is, so I backed out. But as you said, by that time they had my email address and some other information. And that was the beginning of two a day emails trying to get me to finish my registration and send a link to everyone I know.

That part is very suspicious.

They want to know your carrier to know how to send you hundreds of advertising SMS because every carrier accepts with a differnet way bulc messages.
I would also be aware.

I have the same question? I got the email with the below message

"
After reviewing your recent baby photo entry, our Photo Judging Committee selected your baby, her photograph to enter the special $25,000.00 Fame and Fortune™ contest

This contest is judged by photography and child talent professionals. The winning baby photograph will receive a $25,000.00 U.S. Savings bond.

Your baby’s photo is already due to be entered. However, you must verify your entry by clicking here now. If you don’t enter, your baby photo can’t win, and the $25,000.00 bond will go to someone else. With only a limited number of photo entries allowed, your baby photo could be our next winner. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely,

Sonya White
Contest Director "

It also said that there is a one time fee of $20 which has to be paid for entering.

I want to know if all of those who put their pictures got this kind of mail.

Also if any one entered in the contest.

Default We also got that email

My step-granddaughter, who I just entered is beautiful, but I was leary when we got the same exact email that you did, daphjohn. My husband made a good point about it...anyone who is serious about picking a child in a contest is not gonna ask you to pay money, rather will want to pay you for the priviledge to use the child as a model.

I went through the whole process of entering her, and am now receiving a ton of emails. And, when I go to vote for her, it brings me to another ad every time. But, I just close the page, and then go back and check, and can see that my vote was registered even though I didn't complete the ad. I am really interested in keeping her picture in the $2500 prize/month contest, but at the end of this month, I will unsubscribe, and hopefully that will be enough. Has anyone actually won the monthly prize? I know they show photos of kids who have won, but that could be staged. I would be interested to see if there are "real people" that has won.

Default great american photo contest

Boy all of your emails sound familiar, except I haven't gotten all the emails. I just didn't want to pay the $20. It just sounds too suspicious, especially with all those pop ups after you initially sign up. The odds of winning must be slim to none. So, if there is anyone out there who has actually won, please let us know. So for now, I guess we'll just admire our baby as the cutest!
