I'm writing to inform individuals of their options. First off, you may not agree with what I have to say. For those of you that are gun hoe about World Ventures, you can take my comments like a grain of salt. That was how I started off, always defending myself from people and their comments toward this company. I'm not here to tell you not to join or what to do because that's none of my business but I believe my story may help those people who are on the fence with this company. A little over five months ago, I got involved with World Ventures. Before I signed up and paid my $399.99 for Dream Trips and the LTC package I went and saw the presentation at least four times. I talked to people from all around. Basically I did my homework, even read some books on Multi-level marketing. Since at the time I was only nineteen everyone that was already giving World V a shot was ranting and raving about me joining the company. They told me that I had advantages since I went to school and communicated with different people everyday and that I could just make this business fly. My up-line promised me that they would help me achieve my goals in the company and they would help me get my six people with no problem. Well basically I fell for the lines of crap that I once thought was the best opportunity ever. Everyone became what I thought were my "friends". Over time as more and more money was being put out to World Ventures I realized that what sounded like a good idea at the time was failing me. When you see the presentation and see the slide that says there are NO GUARANTEES...Your success is based on your own personal skills. Well no shit but what World Ventures really means about personal skills is how good of a bullshitter you are. I mean nobody said this was going to be easy and I knew that from the start but after several attempts of getting people signed up and time after time of people telling me its a scam, etc...World Ventures just gets old, a waste of time, energy and MONEY!!! I'll admit I only attended one training but I still didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. All the trainings do is get you pumped up to keep "selling" the business. Some people in this company really do well for themselves if they have the contacts and lots of time to put in but all these World V people do is talk about how these trips are great and they make all this money. But talking is one thing and seeing and believing is another. Now since I'm getting out of the business I would like to ask my up-line too see their check stubs and see what they really made from joining the company? I bet most are still out a good lump sum of money from all the expenses they have spent overall, trying to work the business. I want to ask these people how much did other things in their lives suffer from trying to get this business started? Example: Kids/Families/Marriages, Jobs, Friends, etc. The people of World Ventures say it doesn't take up time but in reality time is wasting all along. You could be doing other things with your family in the mean time. Basically, World Ventures is a BIG GAMBLE! If you have the time and money to give it a shot then go for it. All the people that I know that are still in World Ventures are business owners. People who have time and money to take time off work to do what they want, to go on these lavish vacations as many times a year as they wish. But if your just an average joe just making it with where your at, then I'd advise you to turn the other direction and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. For those of you who took the time to read this I thank you for listening to my experiences with World Ventures and I wish you the best of luck in what ever you decide. As for me my luck obviously ran out and I hope I just don't have to say that I told you so.

@stuckinthemiddle, thank you for your post it made a LOT of sense!
You have worked out as far as I can see one of the most important business themes "There ain't no free lunch" For some one of your age bracket you have done excellent! We have seen many post here and many of them are what we call 'crowd hackers' who falsely promote a company for their own benefit! They are pretty easy to spot! I have over MANY years seen and worked with people and companies who promise all sorts of things, many MLM and pyramid companies and the for want of a better word " brainwashing" that goes on is quite unbelievable ! I too in my younger days fell for some of these hypes until I realized that NO ONE will give me lots of money for doing a small amount of work! No the gravy train never quite made it into the station! The important question is this, IF these schemes are so good why is it that everyone is not a member ? and why do they need defending so much if they are really great and the members all get vast amounts of money ? why is it necessary to talk people into doing them if they are so good? Lets be honest, if they were that good people would be knocking the door down to get in on the act! OK lets ask any of the people who defend them so much to post solid evidence, that they as a reasonable new member (not one of those at the top ) To show us solid evidence of the VAST fortune they have made in a short time ? Why is it that SO many people have said that it does not work for them ? surely they are not all losers, many of them are decent honest folk who have done everything asked of them yet are still not rich ? Why have MLM and these types of pyramid schemes been banned in many countries? Anyone heard the expression: "If it sounds too good to be true"?

I was entirely duped into going to one of these presentations just tonight. My good friend called me up and asked me what I was doing. I replied nothing so she said "You have to come with me tonight to this amazing experience." I asked her what it is and she said "You'll just have to come, it is 90% visual".
I had all these different ideas in my head what it was going to be: a local show, an autumn hike, some niche in the cities, etc A World Ventures presentation was the last ****ing thing I expected. Alright, from the presentation I learned that if you sell $1000 worth of travel packages in one month (which they claim was a small amount), then you only get 5%. Only $50?!? Are you kidding me? If you include the $40 you have to pay each month to be a part of World Ventures then you only made $10. I was really frustrated when I read the small print on the sign up paper. It said you have three days to back out and cancel the transaction of your $400 to join and it went on to say that the information on how to do this was on the back of the paper. Guess what was on the back of the paper? Absolutely nothing. It was blank! It also said that only 26.3% of the people made money in 2007 and the average income was only $200 something. The worst part of it all was the end where the presenter went on to give tips on how to lure people into going to these presentations..... He said call your friends and say ""You have to come with me tonight to this amazing experience. I can't explain it because it is 90% visual". The same flippen line that several of my other friends and myself were given by the same three people who lured us there. Please! I am blown away that my friends consider themselves free thinkers and were so easily tricked into forking over so much cash. How frustrating. Thanks to World Ventures to wasting my gas money and my time!!! GOOD GRIEF, people! If you want to waste some time on this issue go to worldventures site and watch their bastard presentation and then go to YTB's bastard presentation and watch that too. Almost identical! To all of you rich WVer's, yathink you could throw me a few bones to make up for my gas money? Thanks. |

Hello all,
It's been quite some time since I have visited this thread, 6 months in fact. I was introduced to WV 6 months ago, and I researched the company very thoroughly before making a decision, with here being one of my research stops. Upon reading some of the posts again, I truly feel that one thing people are overlooking, both those for and against WV, is that this has to be a decision made by each individual. It truly boils down to what you want to accomplish for yourself and your family. Nothing is ever easy, and frankly, anything that comes easy is truly not worth having. The greater the challenge, the greater the prize. After my research, I felt for me, WV offered myself the opportunity I was looking for. In 6 months I have done quite well and made some incredible realtionships that will last a lifetime. I've enjoyed every second of my involvement with WV. Is this for everyone? I feel no. Some people simply aren't willing to put in the effort and go through the ups and downs of operating their own business. That's just the way things work out and there's nothing wrong with that. You have people who run the business with morality and character and others who do not. This is the same problem we face in all areas of life. "It's not the land that makes the man, but the man that makes the land", was something my grandfather always stressed to me, and it's the same with anything we do, just as it is with WV. For me it was undoubtedly the right decision, for many of my friends it has not been. They just didn't see what I saw in WV. No problem, we're still friends and that will never change. Some of my friends are involved in other network marketing companies. Those businesses are for them and WV is for myself, but we support each other in all our endeavors none the less. I had never participated in any network marketing company before but have looked over at least 20 the last 7-8 years before I found one that I beleived in and knew I could be passionate about. That one was WV. I do feel that with the economy in it's present shape and the outlook over the next 12-15 years being very bleak, if someone is not meeting their financial needs, then network marketing is a very viable option. It will force you out of your comfort zone and have you doing things you're probably not presently comfortable with: talking to strangers, holding yourself accountable in all areas of your life, sacrificing television and other activities, etc... to truly get your business up and running. The long term benefits, both financially and on a personal level are very rewarding though. It just boils down to the age old saying, "To get what you've never had, you must do what you've never done." I really feel this field is a great opportunity, with a very low initial start up cost, to get your feet wet, test your metal, and allow you to run your own business. If it's for you, great, if not, that's great also, at least if you gave it 100% you know that your calling is in another field. If this helps only one person with their decision, then it was more than worth my time. Just make the best decision for you and your family and don't let others sway you. The mind is like a parachute, it works best when it's open!! Best wishes to all and enjoy your day!! |

The responses on this topic are about as ridiculous as the company itself. I have been approached by someone talking about this WV crap, and it instantly reminded me of all the other "pyramid" type schemes I've turned down. I know, its not a true pyramid but to explain the process its goes like this:
1. Find suckers to give you $400, then have them pay over $40 per month for website registration. Target young people who are easily convinced by a fancy car or house and do not understand the value of money. 2. Explain how successful you are, lease a car, rent a nice house, etc., and explain how it is all one of many items, and that they can do the same. All they have to do is get 6 people to give them $400, which is so easy, everyone wants to do this right? 3. True success in an organization like this requires one to have the ability to sell crap to people, and convince them its not crap. 4. Offer an actual product with the business (website), and tell them they are an owner. People love to be owners, especially the current generation that wants to instantly be successful. Compare their business to another successful business (Microsoft [hahahahahahahaha]) and broadly state they can do the same. I find this business very comical, I don't see how anyone with common sense would join this. The great travel discounts that you receive off this website are not even close to what you pay monthly to be a member. I work for very large global company and I have to travel almost every other week. I know a great deal about traveling. The company I work for had over 10 billion in revenue last year, we receive maybe $20-50 off of airfare as a corporate traveler. A rough search just on airfare shows about $15-20 savings from the airline website. This would mean, for a person to make their monthly payment back ($40) they would have to take a leisure travel trip twice a month. I would love to do this, but I can't afford or take this much vacation. I don't think I am the only person that has this predicament. This brings me to my second point, a company which specializes in leisure travel. If anyone hasn't noticed leisure travel is not that great of a moneymaker. People who travel on their own money are much less likely to spend it. When I travel on business it is not uncommon to spend over $100 a night per person on wine, meal and drinks/entertainment. I would not do this if it was my own money, and again, I don't feel I am alone here. It would also be quite a task for someone who is 20 years old, with no experience, no company, insurance, equity, backing them to take my money and advise me of travel. Also, if you book with the biggest travel agency around, much bigger than WV, wouldn't you assume they would have a bigger discount? If so most travel agents fee is around $40. This would be a better way to spend your $40 monthly. Before participating in this I would advise to try and find people who have signed up very recently. It doesn't take long to realize you have made an impulsive buy, and regret doing it. Obviously the people trying to place you in under them will not give out this information, so you may have to ask around for yourself. These people will usually give you an unbiased opinion, because most are not able to find 6 suckers to get their money back. Look at the past pyramid schemes, they have all gone bankrupt, an LLC such as this has no equity, and is therefore only responsible for their insurance, and what that pays out if they ever get in legal trouble. Don't listen to anyone in this post explaining how great of a deal this is. They are all very biased because the more people they can get under them, the more of your money they get. If you are looking for cheap travel check out: vvvvvv.studentuniverse.com vvvvvv.kayak.c0m There are always travel posts and discount tips on vvvvvv.lifehacker.c0m, search "travel" Lets put a stop to this crap, and realize everyone posting is trying to sell crap to us. WE ARE NOT SUCKERS!! |

You summed that up very nicely! I was called by a neighbor to attend, what a bore and many of the people that attended I realized were very desperate type people. One of the presenters was a realitor who is up to his eyeballs in debt, the other people many of whom I knew or heard about were upside down on their homes and sadly this was probably their last ditch effort to get some cash. Just NOT from me.
I recognized right away how it all worked and we were given one sheet of paper, mostly to get our credit card info. We weren't even given much info on the company itself, just a total scam. Also the gal that invited me is known for these things and instead of manageing her money and paying down her mortgage she constantly falls into these kinds of traps. In desperate times people will believe anything. Quote:

We were introduced to this company by a close friend but our instincts screamed, "Don't do it!" However, they continued to hype up this company every opportunity they got. They continually told us we would regret not getting into World Ventures at this time. "Amazing things are about to happen!"
Blinded by the perpetual BS, we were completely sucked up into this scam! We joined in on a "training" call and were told that soon we would be able to sign up companies that could offer the "Dream Trips" to their employees as an employee benefit package. "The residual income off these companies was going to be incredible....massive.....you can retire on what you will make off of the companies' employees." (Keep in mind you would still need to sign up 6 people to reap the benefits of the companies signing up.) Not only did we jump on board but so did a group of our friends. Sadly enough, we had come to this board earlier this year and read the messages here but didn't follow our instincts. We jumped right in, bought the complete package with the Dream Trips and even spent a ridiculous amount of money to go to the "accelerated training" in Phoenix, AZ. This company charges an outrageous amount of money for their members to attend the training events. Not only are they raping you with the sign up fees and monthly dues for a ridiculous website that seldom works but they are also ripping you off at these expensive training sessions that tell you to "get there somehow, walk, run, borrow the money from your family...just get there!" Month after month we kept hearing about the next "big announcement". Wow, what a big announcement....so and so is taking over as CEO of WV. Big deal! More promises of an upcoming big announcement. More crap each time. Anything to keep you paying those monthly dues. More broken promises of this will happen soon. More stories about getting to the next training session, there will be a "big announcement" in June. Scratch that.....it is going to happen July 18th in Las Vegas. Whatever.....that is when we pulled the plug. We tried marketing this company and the trips but sadly the only people we signed up were our unfortunate friends that happened to be on the phone with us that night in March. After we signed up, a big apology followed saying that they jumped the gun on announcing that we would soon be signing companies up that could offer the Dream Trips to the employees. More broken promises of "this will happen soon". When trying to cancel, it took an act of Congress. I was told that we could have 3 months free if we sold one service per month. After about one hour on the phone, I finally got my membership cancelled! Most all of our friends have also cancelled or are attempting to cancel at this time. Our one friend was told she could have 2 months free which she agreed to. She was immediately billed for those 2 months after hanging up the phone. Sheeesh! Do not fall for the hype about this company. They will try to suck you in with promises of great wealth. They are trying to convince you that NOW is the best time to get in the company with the economy in it's current state. Their reasoning here is that everyone can use an additional income...forget the money you are shelling out. And how about the money you do save? One of the people we know in the company booked a hotel in Las Vegas but then decided to stay elsewhere. When she tried to cancel the reservation with WV she was told the $600.00 was non-refundable. Since when is a hotel room non-refundable if cancelled prior to 24 hours of arrival, much less weeks before arrival? When she tried to cancel with the hotel she was told that the room was booked by an outside travel company and she would have to deal with the booking company. That was in July '08 and she is still trying to get a refund 4 months later. The point is even if you buy a Dream Trip, in almost every case, you still have to get your airfare to get to where you are going for your Dream Trip. When you factor in your $400.00 sign up, the $39.95 per month (plus I hear there is an additional monthly fee), how many trips do you need to take come out ahead? The answer is you have to find more naive people like yourself to "get on board"! Our former upline continues to call our friends that did not "swallow the hook" with promises of great things to come. They even had the nerve to tell our one friend to leave work sick so she could go to their presentation! How can you say you are all about INTEGRITY then tell people to lie to their employer? How much BS can they continue to heap on? This only reaffirms our decision to "GET OUT NOW!" Last edited by Frankie911; 11-22-2008 at 03:04 PM. Reason: misspelled words |

I used to work for World Ventures through Working Solutions - they contracted WSol to handle customer service calls and, later on, cancellations. I can tell you that in the several months I worked with them and had access to client accounts, I never ONCE saw anyone making any great amount of money. Quite the opposite, what I saw was people having to purchase their own downline, put in false information (children, relatives, etc) and pay for it themselves in order to eve LOOK like they had a downline.
Basically our job was to stall the cancellations by offering anything free in order for the client not to ccancel. Most people didn't even realize what they were paying for and other than the annual trip to hear the CEO's speak, I never once talked with anyone who took a trip. I never found an account of anyone who took a trip either. And I took many, MANY, a call from clients or travel industry people saying they had nothing but trouble even attempting to use that travel agent number. The company is nothing but an MLM pyramid scam. |

Some of these posts are entertaining.
Look, WV is a good company with a good product. Their dream trips sell themselves, and i, and my family have been on one. We went on a 6 night Caribbean cruise, on a brand new Carnival ship for 350, and the deals have gotten better since. Theres a Bahamas cruise this month for 49 bucks... 4 nights. can anyone beat that? I doubt it. Now, if you consider the monthy fee for the package, 20 bucks, yeah, you should use it often or youre wasting it. But heres the great thing about it. Have you ever recommended a good restaurant to someone? A good movie? Thats all direct marketing is (network marketing). WV doesnt adverstise. They pay their members to advertise for them. Thats how companies like Mary Kay got where they are today. If you recommend this business to 6 people and they sign up, your monthy fees disappear, plus you earn $700. So, the package just paid for itself and you made some extra money. The problem is, people think this is a "get rich quick" thing. It isnt. if you want to make money at this, you have to be in it for the long haul. I got out last year becuase i wasnt taking another dream trip for a while and i didnt want to pay the monthies for nothng, but that was before the new policy where they waived the monthly fee if you referred 6. I had no problem at all canceling. Now im getting back in to actually make money, not just make trips. My sponsor has plugged away over the 2 years, and as added over 90 people to one of my teams, so my work is half done. Thats how this business works if you want to make money. There are no shortcuts people. You get out what you put in to it, and if you work at it consistantly over a long period of time, there is a very good chance youll have a 1200-1500 residual monthly income from a part time "job", like a few people i know. Some shady people push this and try to get people to sign up at whatever cost, proimising them rediculous wealth almost overnight. Is it possible? yeah, but not likely. Those people give this industry a bad name. But believe me, this product and company sells itself. You dont have to sell it, let alone apply pressure. Is it for everyone? no. we are all different. so you cant expect everyone to see this opportunity the way you do, or I do. Its a good company and a good product i have researched and watched fir a while now, and its one i can feel good about recommending, esp having been on a trip myself. |
