Exclamation Edc Logistics (European Shipping Company) BEWARE

I was thinking of buying a second hand car from a guy in Italy. This how it went.......

Thank you for your interest in purchasing my car.
The vehicle is in good condition, has no technical damage at all, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, no smoking.
It's fun and robust to drive. Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well. It has title of ownership, cleared of any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it.
I have worked in UK for the last 2 years and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Rome, Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because I don `t use it anymore (the wheel is on right side and is very difficult for me to drive it in Italy) and it `s a pitty to keep such a car and not to use it.
I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal Circumstances.
The price I am looking for my car is £3,500 including the shipping costs, insurance and handling(delivery to EUROPE).
You will not have to pay additional taxes for this.

Then i got this email from a company called Edc Spedition,

Our company is the European market leader in global express and international mail services. Edc Spedition Ltd reduces risks associated with Internet transactions by acting as a licensed, trusted, neutral third party for on-line transactions. The seller leaves the merchandise into Edc Spedition Ltd custody.
The merchandise will remain in Edc Spedition Ltd custody until the buyer provides the payment informations to Edc Spedition Ltd. The payment will be made through a Wire Transfer Service. Once the funds are verified by Edc Spedition Ltd, the merchandise will be send to the buyer.

Edc Spedition Ltd Through this e-mail we have the pleasure to inform you that the merchandise has been left in our custody. The shipping fee was paid by the Seller. The Payment Informations about the Western Union Money Transfer must be sent to us for verification. The Payment Informations that you need to send to us are: Money Transfer Control Number, Sender's Name and Sender's Address, Receiver's Name and Receiver's Address. The Seller is unable to receive any information regarding the payment data. This action is restricted by a mutual agreement between the Seller and Edc Spedition Ltd.
The next step is to complete the deposit funds transfer via Western Union. Receiver of the payment £3,500.
Name and address of Edc Spedition Ltd agent:

Payment instructions:
************************************************** *****
Payment must be sent by: Western Union Money Transfer
Next step to be taken: The buyer must send the payment to our Edc Spedition Ltd agent.
To submit the payment with Western Union Money Transfer, you have to Pay for the transfer with cash at a local Western Union agent.
Amount to be sent: £3,500
To locate the agents in your area click here.
Western Union Money Transfer is the only service that has ultimate authentication of the identity of the receiver of funds. Several IDs and utility bills are required before the funds are paid. Therefore, no one else but your receiver have access to the money. Your payments cannot be lost in the mail, like money orders or checks.

But this looks like a scam. What do you THINK??? let me know ASAP

I reported the website so hopefully it will be shut down.I know this is no help to you but it might save someone else from being scammed by the site.
If you have paid by western union in the past 24 hours, then it is worth seeing if it has been picked up.You can do this by tracking at westernunions website.

These scammers are cowards. They hide behind the internet to steal. There is no possibility that they will call to your house when they can just try the same scam on someone else.
If you have not given them any ID or bank information then I would say that you are pretty safe. There is not a lot someone can do with a name address and email address. Most of that information is publicly available

Default Car scammer?

Looks like we've been the victims of a hoax though we have not parted with any money. We thought the car was too good to be true ... very reasonable price for that car.

Subject: Re: Freelander for sale

Hi,

The 2004 Land Rover Freelander HSE SATNAV is still for sale. never implied in any accident, in excellent condition. There are no signs of prior damage on this vehicle. I worked for 2 years in a private clinic as a doctor. During this period I bought a car. Now I am pregnant and I have decided to give birth in my home country so I have decided to sell my car and go back to Switzerland.

The final price is £ 4.000 sterling + shipping to your door.
To calculate the shipping cost please include your shipping address in your next email.

I am the registered keeper and there is no outstanding finance on the vehicle. The car is in perfect condition, the bodywork is immaculate, no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition.

Due to amount involved and due the fact I am not located in the United Kingdom, I only accept third party transaction mediator. All documents, including V5 log book on your name will be provided along with the car.
Please email me soon if you want to move forward and let me know if you need anything else.

All the best!

Just thought i would add that this bloke is still on the loose. I saw a peugeot 206 on pistonheads with all the fancy sporty bits on, very good price at £3600 but it would sell easily for £5000+. My missis was really up for buying it and got all excited at the thought of such a beauty of a car for so little money. She sent him the email (no phone number) and got this message back

Hi, I see you are interested of my car, first of all I have to tell you that the vehicle is in good condition, has no technical damage at all, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, no smoking. It's fun and robust to drive. Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well.
It has title of ownership, cleared of any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it. The reason I am selling the car is because I really have to not because I don't like it anymore.
I have worked in UK for the last 2 years and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Rome, Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because I don `t use it anymore (the wheel is on right side and is very difficult for me to drive it in Italy) and it `s a pity to keep such a car and not to use it.
I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal circumstances.
The price I am looking for my car is £3600 including the shipping costs, insurance and handling (delivery to EUROPE).
You will not have to pay additional taxes for this.
The car has MOT and Road tax. Also has full service history and it is hpi cleared.
Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Thank you

In a nutshell, you would be stupid to pay for a car that you can't see. I cant believe folks actually fall for this
