Default WAM scam?

bandman 33,

Do you have specific links with information indicating that the world alliance of mayors is a scam? None of the links you posted before are about WAM, and some of those pages/ articles are over 10 years old.

I was directed to the WAM site for funding. I found their site, and the related sites, to be as confusing as I have ever seen. However, they stress that they will not ask for money at any point throughout the process. I always operate under the assumption that if it seems too good to be true, it is; but we are proceeding cautiously.

The main idea that gives me confidence is that the person we are dealing with is a very successful business person with a financial background. He is pretty wealth himself. The person that referred us to him is also a very successful business person that is pretty wealthy. I trust the person that referred me, and know his references and background very well.

I do not beleive either person has any motivation to be part of a scam (especially finaicial). So, I proceed cautiously.

If you do have any SPECIFIC information to the contrary, I will greatly appreciate you sharing.

Your points are well taken. I dont implicitly trust him. What I'm saying is that his credentials are strong, so I give him the benefit of the doubt, BUT, I am cautious and trying to find out anything I can.

I cannot find anything here, or on the internet that is negative and specific to WAM.

Default Preception Is Everything

How do you KNOW that the person you're dealing with is wealthy??? Do you have access to their bank accounts? Do they have a nice car, (a Lexus perhaps) maybe an alligator skin wallet or big diamonds on the Mrs. fingers? Run a thorough 'check' on this tycoon you think is so wealthy - pay for it if you must, and let us know what you find out. ;o)

I understand and appreciate your concern. I am comfortable with the idnividual we are dealing with. I have specific knowledge of successful projects that he has funded (large projects). However these projects were not through WAM. He was upfront in stating that WAM is not his only funding source, but it may be the most reasonable.

I was hoping someone could say "Yes, I was scammed by them" or " I know someone that was scammed by them" or "Here is a link to negative information about them".

I dont see that.

Default Another angle

If you trusted your sources, you wouldn't be here on this message board. I equal it to the guy that's sure his wife isn't having an affair, but still goes out and hires a PI. If you're confident with what you've seen (or have been told, actually) and want to believe it -- god speed crump - god speed.

Next link you may find such post is FBI's site.
Still, there is nothing about WAM in that link or on the FBI website. I have my reservations, but I still have not seen anything negative that is specific to WAM.

I'll report back on my experience.

Yes, we tried to do business with them but, simply put, they DO require you to provide a letter of credit or a security of some kind for your project to be funded and if you can get that yourself you don't need them at all. They also promised that sort of thing would not be necessary. We wasted over 7 months with this group and I use the term "group" very loosely. They have no business doing what they're doing and it is so good to finally see some people coming out of the wood-work and saying that. KEEP AWAY FROM THESE SHYSYERS!!!

Default What did we lose thanks to the WAM-SCAM?

Thank you for your email, kind sir. Thanks to The World Alliance of Mayors (or as we call it, the WAM-SCAM) including all the free meals we bought their poster child, Joel Griffing (who I KNOW is window4u on this board) I would say we are out a total of $17,000.00 which includes doc preps, atty fees, travel, etc, etc. Not to mention our most valuable asset, TIME!

Default Ourwam.com

Being a commercial broker I have met just about all the preditars that are out there and they are not always so transparent. I was told about ourwam by a lender that I always had a lot of trust in but now I do not know.
Is it a fact that ourwam.com is a fraud or just a warning that it "may be fraudulent" because there are so many out there that are definitely fraudulent. Has anyone been "duped" by them .... in other words is there anyone out there can honestly say that they have been scammed by ourwam.com. I, for one. would certainly like to know.
