As of August 2002 Global Travel claims to have had over 40,000 Independent Travel Agents in 50 States and 85 Countries serviced by a team of over 200 reservationists and support staff in Florida. Critics tell a different story.
GTI is bases on the Multi Level Marketing strategy, a kind of legal Pyramid Scheme. Among the complaints and allegations made by former GTI “independent travel agents” are constant computer-generated phone messages about travel deals at all hours, automatically billing those whose 'free' membership expires (followed by harassment by Monterey Financial) and a nigh impossible business environment in which to get a return on investment, let alone a profit.
Some believe all MLM’s are scams. Those who believe this think Travel MLM’s are the very worst.
