The story of the investment fraud must be believable but not too perfect too be true. Investment scams make a variety of barely plausible claims to convince potential fraud victims to give them their money.
• Claims that celebrities, major corporations or banks will be soon be investing.
• That their product will soon be on the shopping network or in a major catalogue.
• That a favourable new report is coming out shortly.
• That they are lining up a deal with a major distributor.
• That they’re currently negotiating with a major company or pension fund
• That the company is using a “new” technology that makes it possible to process resources more cheaply, cure all known illnesses,
• That other companies are actually using spies.
• Claims that the sale of certain investments that confer 'alien immigration status' on foreign nationals seeking to emigrate to the US.
