Is There a Monavie Scam?
Monavie is a supplemental health drink that appeared on the market in January of 2005. Its recipe apparently consists of the juice of fruits and berries, including the Aci Berry, which supposedly can only be found in Amazonian rain forests.
The possible health benefits of this tonic are not our concern; the marketing strategy used to sell the Monavie juice is. Monavie employs the famed Multi Level Marketing plan so many businesses use, a legal but ethically questionable practice that can wreak havoc on the would-be salesperson.
It works like this: participants pay to become part of the company. They pay for products to sell. They’re expected to “recruit” others like them. The few at the top make a great deal of money from the many at the bottom.
It’s all completely legal, but it sounds far more profitable and attractive than it actually is. Most participants wind up in over their head for very little to show for it. |
