Don't worry colection companies is another threat from scams. You may also threat them if they still contact you that you have already report it to police, but my advise is to do it because exept they tried to scam you now they threat you and this is criminal action also.

H all,I am really confused by this thread...
I have read it all and gone to the hoddiaphen website and although ,in my opinion, they have immoral and/or borderline illegal practices I can see nothing that is in fact illegal???

By applying for a free sample, you also subscribe to a 4 month subscription.
This is clearly written under the "Ship my kit" button.
Quote:
Terms and Disclosures. You have ordered the HoodiaPhen trial membership for four dollars and ninety-five cents. After the fifteen day trial you will be charged one hundred forty-nine dollars and ninety-five cents for a four month supply. You may cancel here anytime within fifteen days of the trial period. (A forty-nine dollar and ninety-five cent cancellation fee will apply) You also agree to the twenty-one day bonus trial to FitFactory.com for thirty-nine dollars and ninety-five cents a month thereafter, should you choose not to cancel. You represent that you have read and agree to the Privacy & Terms.
As I said,I cannot see the proof of illegality of this on this thread, but if there is no crime, then how can you refuse to pay a debt collection agency?

Many companies offer contract cellphones for a lower rate for the first 3 months with a higher rate for the remainder of the contract. You cannot decide that after 3 months into a contract that you want to stop.Or if you do...you must pay a fee..

If the website hoodiaphen.com is a scam...then it should be shut down. But how can it be shut down if there is no proof of criminal behavior?

I cannot comment on whether Hoddia works or not but you agreed to pay for this subscription.Again..I cannot see how this site can be classified as illegal

Weevel please read post 21 in this thread to see how they just get money from anyone who registered and wants to cancel subscription. They seem to act legally to get money either to enter either to go from their list.
They get also ""Cancellation fee of $49.95"" and if is in terms and conditions you accepted to get the free samples may be is legal but also scam.

the free trail for $4.95 (shipping). But my credit card was charged. I do not want the product to ship and I want to cancel any future charges to my credit card as well as get a refund for the $4.95.
This incurs a charge according to the agreed TOC

Quote:
Cancel my enrollment into your AP program, I was unaware that this was an automatic enrollment just for accepting the "free" trial.
Ignorance of the TOC that you agreed to is not an excuse
Quote:
I have already notified my credit card company that I am disputing any charges from your company.
you have a right to.and if the company HAS gone against the TOC you will get your money back

Quote:
Please contact me immediately to let me know no further charges will be made to my account and that the $4.95 shipping charge will be refunded since I have not received the product.
Again according to TOC you have to pay a fee.

I do NOT agree with Hoodiaphen.com but I think someone needs to say that legally they appear on the right side of the law.
When a collection agency comes to collect the money..the debt will be increased and they will have the legal right to send a collection service.

This is my perspective.PLEASE correct me if I am wrong

No you are not wrong at all.
I said the same thing above they act by the law to get money from anyone who will try to order even if he changes his mind or realises that ordered something for free which must pay a lot.

Default Hoodiaphen

What this company is doing appears legal but misleading. The have extremely poor customer service.

I was one of the foolish individuals who did not read everything before I ordered the Free Trial for $4.95. I have attempted to cancel, but have had difficulty accessing their email. I will attempt to phone them but would guess I will not have much success based upon what I have read about the company. I feel as if I've been scammed.

One of my concerns is that no matter what height and weight scenario you enter into their "test" (to see if you qualify for the product), they qualify you.
I wanted to see if it was legit so I entered a variety of heights and weights including 6'2" and 75 lbs; I was qualified to use the drug to get to my desired weight of 50 lbs. Great company!

I have written the Today Show, 60 Minutes and Oprah to alert them to this campanys practices and have asked them to expose the company or to (at least) remove their logos from the website.
