Default Isnt this funny...

Im 100% sure this is a scam from what i read on here and just wanted to inform others about it. I first found this sell on craigslist and then to eBay to have a "secured" buy.. but after i read some articles in here it was strange that one paragraph sounded identicle to mine... well heres it.

Hi,

First of all I must mention that I will not negotiate the price $2,500 firm.
Reason for selling is that I just finished the divorce with my husband and this is one of the things that court left me.
I don't have a driver license so it's useless for me.It has 10,900 miles and is in very good running condition, garage kept, new tires and clear title.Never been laid down or in any accidents.
At this time I'm in Indianapolis, IN. As a payment protection for both of us I want to use eBay Motors Vehicle Protection Programs because they have a protection up to $50,000.
If you are interested to buy it like this please let me know and I will inform you how eBay Vehicle Protection Program works.
If not, you are welcome to come to inspect it as soon as my ad will expire next week and the bike will be still available.

You can see some pictures with the bike here: wldrsarah - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

PS: I am not so good in bikes but you can call my ex hubby and he will help you with all your questions.(574) 248-4185. Ask for Fred.

Subject: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I sell it at this price($4,200.00 USD) because i'm in a divorce with my husband. When the divorce will be finished this car will be my property. Now as a women i don't need it. This car is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20,000.00The final price that I want for this car is $4,200.00 USD including shipping and handling.
If you are interested in buying it please answer me ASAP so can initiate the deal through eBay.
If you want to purchase it I also need your name and address (where you want to receive the car).
Thanks,
Cate Brophy

======================
Hi again,
The car is already at the shipping company in Manhattan,New York sealed and ready for the shipping.
I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm getting off the town so I can't meet
in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the internet. According with the eBay you have 5 days
from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:
1.First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address
- Phone #
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need with the car.
If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.
5. If you will decide that you will not buy the car, eBay will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my car.
If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so we can proceed. I look forward to hear from you.
Thank you

Default Scam!??

Man.. I think I almost got scammed when I saw a Toyota Camry 2005 on craiglist for $5000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was too good to be true so I email the owner to confirm the price.

Here's the email he sent me:

The 1st email

From: "David Gabbard" <davidgabbard_army@yahoo.com>

Hello,

It's very hard for me to reply faster because I work in the US Air
Force
. I wanted to let you know that the car is
still available, i had a buyer but his loan did not get approved. Please

let me know asap if you
are still interested , here is a link with more
photos:
(can't post the link yet).At this time the car is in Helena, MT with me and we can use the eBay
Vehicle Purchase Protection service to handle this deal if you're not
able to come pick this up. Please let me know if you have any
questions,
for
some reasons your previous email did not load on my screen.

Thank you,
David Gabbard, TSgt, USAF

At first, I thought this guy must be nuts!!$5000 for Camry 05!?! Beside, I have no idea what's eBay Vehicle Purchase Protections service, so I asked him.

Here's the second email/reply

From: "David Gabbard" <davidgabbard_army@yahoo.com>

Hello,
This Toyota Camry is a real 'head turner' and it will make you proud, it is in excelent condition, never been involved in
accidents, only 31,200 miles, vin # is 4T1BE32KX5U040575, clean and clear title, no mechanical problems, no smells and
odors, no rust, no leaks, power options all functional and it will need nothing in the near future.I inherited it from
my uncle who had health issues and took great care of this car, always garaged and never offroad. We are in a training
mission here until 15th of August but if you're not able to pick this up I have some great news for you. The shipping
will take 4-5 days thru DAS and it will be free, my previous buyer already paid for it and DAS didnt want to refund him
so I have the car sealed at DAS terminal ready to be shipped out. If we cannot meet face2face I would like to use ebay
motors vehicle purchase protection to take care of this deal, smooth and safe. Let me know if you have any other questions,
hope i didnt miss anything, if we use ebay program this is not a sight unseen deal anymore.

Ok...I'm confused. What's DAS. So I googled it, but it doesn't make any sense at all. I googled this guy (there's no TECHNICAL SERGANT UNDER HIS NAME as far as I can tell), googled the whole protection service thing from ebay, and finally went back to craiglist to find his post( IT'S GONE!).

I came to the conclusion it's a SCAM (eventhough I'm still hoping it's not)!!

First time trying to buy a car..and almost got scam.

By the way, I was stupid enough to tell him I will meet him face to face to seal the deal when his mission is over. Should I bring police if he decided to meet face to face?

Default Craiglist - waste of space

I have to say when reporting and looking into the Erich Kofmel property frauds we also found the craiglist reporting line to be a complete waste of space (abuse@craigslist.org). Many of the other property listing websites worked pro-actively with victims (and no doubt the police) to help track down the scammer. Craiglist did not even respond to the multilpe complaints they received about Erich Kofmel (you can read about the frauds here erichkofmelinfo.googlepages.com) other than to shut down the adverts in a rather tardy manner.

My advice to victims is to post as much information as possible (this will help other victims find out it is a scam, hopefully before parting with $$$)and ensure EVERY crime is reported as such (many may encounter resistance from law enforcement saying there is no prospect of recovery of the money, or that it is bound to be a West African fraud ect ect).

Default I fell for it!

OMG I have never done something so stupid. I have always been protective over my savings. I was just caught at a bad time. I recently found out that I have a blood clot on my brain. I was on medication which disorted my commom sense. Normally, in my right mind, I would have picked up on the warning signs of this email.

I responded to the aol email off Craigslist. This is the email I got in response...

I thought I was safe because the transaction was going through eBay. Low and behold the eBay email was a fake as well. I sent the money and of course received no vehicle. I wan't trying to find the cheapst deal, I just wanted the car. I noticed on the eBay email that Thandie's address was in New York which would have been a red flag for me if I was in my right mind. I am in another state but the Craigslist was posted in my state. The eBay Financial Center was in IL (FAKE). But when I called to investigate, the MoneyGram was picked up in Houston Texas.

I have reported this but I am going to go get a court order to have the exact location verified and I am going to see if this person is on camera receiving the money. All with the court order of course.

I have always hated thieves. I never thought I would be had.

Signed,
I've Been Had

Default Car scam

@IBeenHad, Hello and welcome, I am very sorry to hear that you lost money from these crooks. Please do not feel guilty! it is the scammer who has done wrong NOT you!
They are very good at cheating and lying , and the more honest a person is the easier it is to trick them, as they cannot believe that some one would be so low as to do these things!

Please do all you can to report this, but be prepared to accept that the money is gone! The chance of getting any back is very low! the scammers use many tricks and false names etc so it is hard for the law to take action against them.

Please feel free to contact me via the private message system or the link below if you need any help or assistance.
I hope that your health improves and you do not let this upset you too much.

"This too shall pass"
