Default Thanks Scammerslammer

You offered such kind words that it brought tears to my eyes. At this point I know that getting the money back is slim to none, but I really want this person caught before he scams someone else. I am an honest person and it ticks me off that someone deceived me in this manor. Thanks for the get well wishes; you are too kind.

Default Craiglist car scam.

@IBeenHad, Thank you, it is a pleasure to help honest people if we can!

It would be very nice to be able to put these crooks behind bars, but it is a very long and arduous path to do this!

However there are teams of dedicated decent people who are doing just this. on a volunteer basis.

Many of the scammers are not getting things all their own way!

I know that this will not get your money back but it may provide a little comfort to know!

We have had quite a few arrests and recovered many millions of dollars! but the most important thing is that many potential victims have been saved!

In a public forum it would not be wise to explain fully, but quite a lot is being done about these crooks! So take heart you are not alone.

I have also been scammed the same way you have, and the moneygram was also picked up in Houston TX. Have you had any success getting the police in Houston to subpeona moneygram to see where it was picked up, and if there was a camera? This is unreal that this is happening so many times and no one is getting caught!

Default Another victim! :-(

OMG Waterlady1, I am so sorry to that you were scammed as well. It is horrible that this person is committing this crime over and over and nothing is being done about it.

The rep at moneygram told me that I could get a court order to find out the location the money was picked up at in Houston. However, I am a bit discouraged because going through the court takes so long. I wish there was a faster way to get the subpoena. I still may try but I am really hoping that the film at the moneygram location in Houston hasn't been recorded over by the time I get an order.

I take it that you have tried to get a subpoena? If so, what road block am I going to face?

Thanks for your support, its been a tough week. Just trying to keep going! I have filed a report with the Houston financial crimes unit of the police department and hoping they will pursue this. I do have a case number and a number to call to follow up. I filed the report with them on Saturday and will call in a few days to see if anything has been done. I was told by moneygram that a law enforcement agency has to request the subpeona, so am hoping that they will do so. I am just so mad at myself that I did not do any research until AFTER I had sent the moneygram. The person that scammed me sent a well-written, although very similar e-mail to what others have received. Used the name James Vaughn. After I sent the moneygram I got a message written in very poor grammar. I was totally taken in by the "ebay vehicle protection program" and the fact the transaction was "registered on ebay." I did not catch that it was a cut and paste job. One thing I've noticed reading all these threads, a lot of time the closing is "Regards" or "Best Regards". My scammer said we had to hurry this sale because he was about to be deployed. I fell for that too!

Default Police Report

Hi Waterlady1, I hope you recover from your loss soon. I have filed a report with my local police station, I need to file one with Houston as well. Maybe if enough complaints come in then they will look into the matter. I know that my local police station is not taking it seriously; one officer flat out told me that the scammer would never be caught. GEEZ! Can they at least look into the matter before making such a comment. I will try to contact Houston's PD tomorrow. I will let you know that outcome. Hopefully I get better results.

PS I did the same thing as you did when I got scammed. I didn't look into it until after I sent the moneygram. My first indicator was when the fax number on the ebay invoice was busy. This was 2 days after I sent the moneygram. Anyway, it was already too late to stop the transaction because the money was picked up an hour after I dropped it off.

Default I got the same email!!

...Luckily I looked this up and found this forum, knowing that this was too good to be true....

Hi,i see from your email that you are interested in the condition of the car
so you have to know that the car is 100% working , only 24,900 miles and looking very good,no flaws or dents,
no scratches or any kind of damage,no flood or wrecked and it has a US clear title,
the interior looks great,is brand new condition because I have took care of it
like it was my baby(the car is located in Ephraim , Utah ready to be shipped).
This is a regretful sale but unfortunately i need money for my son ,
he is in hospital and i really need money for him. This is why i am selling the car so cheap.
BUY IT NOW for $4300 because i want to close a quick and smooth deal with a serious person.
About the shipping i can tell you that will be done through DAS Transport Service and it will take no
more than 3 days.

The SUV will be insured at the shipping company for the transport and the shipping cost is free
because my brother works at the shipping company and he will ship the truck for me for free.
If you are still interested please contact me asap.

Thanks

Lorena

Make sure each and every one of you register each crime as a crime. Swap crime reference numbers and make sure the police know the scale of it. Eventually you will have a critical mass of victims that they will no longer be able to ignore. That is what happened with the Kofmel frauds.

Hi,
Thanks for being interested in buying my bike. It is in a good condition, no scratches,no damages, never been implicated in any accidents,no problems at the engine, runs very well. It has an 1000 cc,6,000 miles miles, clear title, a perfect bike. The price is not negotiable , $2,800.00 firm. The only thing because i am selling it,because i divorced with my husband and after the divorce i own this bike, now as a woman i don`t need it(i don`t have driver license)...we will use only eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection to complete the sale. If you are interested and you have the funds available email me your full name and shipping address.
Thanks.

Jenna

Do NOT give this person your information and report the listing immediately by flagging it. I am working on several pings I sent through the yahoo server, have sicked my credit protection watchdogs on her and am thinking of maybe shelling out the dough for a private eye to help me track this scum down.
