There are probably a few million "Alan Peterson" on the internet, so it would help if we had some information to narrow the search down a little. If the email is similar to the one above kindly posted by Scamfighter, or it says you have won a lottery, then it is a scam.

Yes it is a scam. Nokia do NOT run lotteries like this and do not use a free email service .
It is an attempt to steal your identity . and you would be asked for up front 'fees' before you could receive this imaginary money.
