I have a woodworking small internet business and on June 22, 2009 I received a letter from a customer in Hi requesting that I make many wood shadow items for the person to re-sell in their store. Enclosed where 3 postal money orders in the amount of $850.00 I went to the Post office on the 26th and the post office said they were good, safe and not a fraud. Even said they would cash if they had money on hand. I checked the mailing address on Google and it also was good so I went to the local grocery store, cashed them and started buy all the supplies, and things I needed for a big job. Now some 2 weeks later the money orders have been returned and I do not have the funds to pay this amount of the money orders $2550.00. I did nothing wrong. I was fulfilling an order for a customer just as I do all the time. Never had this happen before. Can someone tell me if I'm going to go to jail over something I had no idea was happening, even after the post office said they were good. Please let me know what to do, as I depressed and so hurt right now. Don't know what will happen to me now.

@tomcmoore. Welcome to 419legal. I am sorry to hear that you are out of pocket to these scammers. sadly the money has to be paid back, talk to the people and work out a repayment plan, Yes it hurts badly but it has to be done.
Contact your local postal INSPECTORS and give them all the information you have including hard copies of any emails . This you MUST do to cover yourself . In parts of the USA it is an offense to be in the POSSESSION of a forged instrument with sever penalties so you have to act and cover yourself. Contact Fraud recognition and prevention education, fraud victim advocacy, law enforcement support ASAP and tell them, they are very good people and will help. If you do what I have suggested you should be ok. If you receive any more money orders or cheques then do NOT try to cash them but give them to the postal inspectors. On a personal level it hurts badly to be scammed and it can be quite devastating, however I can assure you that it will pass and life will return to normal. Please do not let the low life scammers affect your live any more than it has, they can take your money but they cannot take your integrity. By having the courage to post on here you are hurting them badly, as other people will see and hopefully they will be warned . You are not alone and we have vast experience in dealing with these scammers . Please feel free to contact me at any time if you need further help,
