Hi
SMS Fraud A few days ago we received an sms from Platinum Lottery Company UK stating that we have won an international lottery. I decided to reply to the email for further instructions and investigate. The sms reads: "Your mobile No has won 1820000 at Platinum, winning No 10 20 25 41 44 46 b 6 contact Mr s.campbell email: plb2020@gmail.com" When we received their reply, they asked us to send our details to the payment officer Mr. Raymond Coker at the HSBC bank via raymondcoker@hsbcmessageonline.com or contact them via info@plantinum.comoj.com. What I have discovered is that Mr. Raymond Coker is a very common nigerian 419 scam name, the site hsbcmessageonline.com is a known scam address and is already blacklisted. The site "comoj" is a free subdomain hosting site allowing anyone to host a subdomain and thus receive a free email address. I will be notifying cellphone companies as well as post on various scam and 419 scam sites. The HSBC bank has also been notified. *Update* 000Webhost has removed the platinum subdomain from the comoj website for abuse. Last edited by Chris Schoombie; 10-29-2009 at 04:00 PM. |
