Better Business Bureau Complaint
On the Better Business Bureau's website at BBB, there is a recent Security Alert posted about a Phishing email being sent out in their name. By opening the "Security Alerts /Email Fraud" link, you will learn about an e-scam that begins with, You have received a complaint in regards to your business services.

I'm trying to figure out the mindset of scammers, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. What's the scam here? What information are they phishing for?
If you have a business and get a complaint like the email implies, all you have to do is respond to the BBB what your actions will be in resolving the matter, right? That's not a service you pay for right? Where would the money be changing hands in the process for the phishers to ape? What's the process here for getting money?

That doesn't make sense to me. Most companies are very public about who is running it. I though phishing was trying to get people to give up vital information like credit cards and such?

Most scams have a different type of sence. They may not send it to international companies but smaller ones .......
As you say for credit cards etc are another scam type from this.

I'm sorry, I'm still not getting this. If there's no money passing hands, what's the scam? Getting the names of people who run a company isn't necessary to do in this way as it's typically public information. I see this as a little too elaborate a scheme to mine a few email addresses from businesses when it's easier to guess their email structure.

Money can passing hands in the future but may be another's money that a scam got using your ID or personal info.
