1. If you are told you won a competition you never entered, it’s a scam. 2. Make it your responsibility to ensure that your travel agent knows about any medical conditions and exactly what your trip will entail. 3. As far as possible, try to use the credit card only for larger purchases from established vendors. 4. Do not go in for drugs, as this may land you in big trouble. If at all you fall into a trickster’s web, be calm and try to involve the real police. 5. Always go for money exchange in pairs, so that you can concentrate while your friend fends off any distractions that might be present. 6. Never get into unofficial taxis. Avoid sharing your taxi with passengers you do not know and do not permit the driver to pick up passengers on the way. 7. Take extra care about who gets your number and handles your card out of your sight. Check your credit card statement carefully after every foreign trip. 8. Watch your stuff and stand your ground while in the airport. Do not advertise your wealth through your luggage. 9. Always purchase your Holiday packages from bonded operators, whose collapse wouldn’t cost you one extra penny. 10. Avoid accepting invitations from strangers for sharing a drink or two. You never know what your drink may contain.
