Work From Home Scams

Ironically because the inter-net provides ample opportunities for real work from home jobs it has also become a breeding ground for work from home scams, complaints filed against work-at-home scams have more than doubled in the last few years.
It is the nature of most work-at-home jobs that they don't guarantee regular, salaried employment, but these on-line scams neglect to mention this. The worst of these scams require their targets to spend their own money for products or instructions up-front. Many times the work itself is getting others to sign up for the same fraudulent 'job'.
It is important to look for certain clues when pursuing a work-at-home job. Legitimate companies provide information in writing. They do not ask for any personal information that could be used to access bank accounts, credit cards, and etcetera. People should be wary of any offer that doesn't pay a regular salary or involves working for an overseas company, and should check the company with the FTC or Better Business Bureau or its equivalent. |
