Thumbs up Tips For Avoiding Identity Theft

Identity theft is a serious crime which occurs whenever someone ropes you off your personal information without your knowledge and then uses this information to commit frauds and other crimes. Although identity theft has been on the rise in the recent years, a little bit carefulness on your part can help you avoid getting your personal information into the wrong hands. Some tips you may essentially follow include:

1) Never throw any important financial document or paperwork into the trash as it is. Always remember to shred them before you can discard them. This ensures that your personal details are not picked up by someone from the trash.

2) Pick pockets are always on the run for your purses and wallets. Therefore, don't even think of carrying your social security number in your purse or wallet. Carry it someplace where there is no chance of it getting picked up.

3) Don't ever pass on your personal details on the phone, through mails or on the internet. All of these are extremely vulnerable sources through which your personal information can get leaked.

4)A very important consideration, especially for the ardent internet users, is to have account passwords that are not very obvious. You should always have passwords that do not relate to any of your personal details. Preferably, keep changing your password every once a while.

5) If you carry a credit card, you should carefully monitor it and report if you detect anything fishy. File a report as soon as you notice any suspicious activity.

If you or your company do business on the internet you are at risk, and even if you never use your credit card online you could still have your credit card info stolen.

If you buy online many businesses are being hacked and their customer data base stolen.

If you only use your card in your home town at the grocery or department store the information does not go to your bank directly, but passes through the hands of several third party service providers in between the store and bank. These are the companies you hear about being hacked and 10s of thousands of credit card informations being stolen. All of this is beyond your control, but roughly 90% of it could have easily been prevented by the companies that were hacked.

At least 90%of hacks are done using a process called SQL injection. It is a simple easily learned method requiring no special tools or programs. With a good tutorial a smart 12 year old can do it.

Tragically the online businesses that get hacked, just like over 90% of the businesses online, have not taken any basic precautions to prevent such attacks. 419Buster, a member here gave both the FBI and police in the UK a quick easy simple fix to give hacked site owners to prevent it happening to them again. It takes less than 30 minutes and completely blocks all SQL Injection Attacks.

The point is they should have done this tiny upgrade before the attack, so there would have been no attack. Just that one little simple fix could stop as much as 90% of hacks.

So don't beat your self up if you do all you can and still have your ID stolen, it happened to me more than once and I took all the precautions.

Default Avoiding ID theft

Always be careful while giving your IDs whether they are CNIC or Credit care ID or even your Celluar id.Because the hackers can track any thing which is on the web once.
