Default Reporting for Duty?

I have a desire to help keep people safe from scammers. At the moment I have all the time in the world, as I am not working right now. I would like to use that time in a productive and useful manner.

I met a man on a dating site who tried to scam me. Only the fact that I would never send money to someone I'm not closely related to, as well as the fact that I have no money to spare, saved me. I thought he was real, and I thought he had feelings for me. I learned real fast what a scammer is and how they operate. Now I want to help others become aware without the harsh lessons many learn on their own.

@PurpleProse, welcome to 419legal, It is great that you want to help, if you still have them, can you post copies of the emails you received on here? one of the ways to combat these scammers is to educate people by posting the details of the scams on a public forum like 419legal, this helps people see that they are scams and hopefully avoid being caught!

The romance scammers are the absolute scum of the earth and do a lot of damage to their innocent victims. if you want to join the fight and learn how to do this safely and effectively there are sites that can help you, the best two are:

ScamBaiting at it's finest - Scam Baiting for Fun and Justice theScamBaiter.com

and Anti-Fraud International

Both sites have good people who can 'mentor' you in working against the scammers!
